Post by: Kyle Schmidt on December 02, 2016, 06:16:49 AM

Hello!

When I was trying games ,Flash blocked saving cookies but cookie system inside settings is broken.
HTML5 is now up to date and flash is needed to update ,install etc.
If Papa Games are on flash and you don't want lose them ,If you can change them into HTML5 if your application allow it.

Best Wishes,

Sorry for bumping but this topic will probably be necessary when Flash's support gets completely cut in favour of HTML5 in 2020 (and for Microsoft Edge users, around 2019).

The homepage has been updated to be HTML5 (for the "Welcome" area and app promos), so you should able to see these on phones and tablets now as well.  The games themselves can't just be updated or replaced with HTML5, they specifically require Flash and can't be released or reworked like this.

You would at least create new games on HTML5 right?

Not everything works in 3D. Sole things better stay as they are.

At the moment it's not possible to make Gamerias using HTML5.  Maybe things will improve in the future, though there's no clear plan from browser manufacturers on how they will be improving HTML5 before Flash disappears.

The nice thing with Flash was that only one company (Adobe) was in charge of it, so they could make improvements and they would instantly be available across all browsers.  With HTML5, things have to be decided and implemented by a combination of the W3C, Google, Microsoft, Mozilla, Apple, and others, so things move pretty slowly.

I was planning on having a 3d remake for 3ds and wii u, since it would've made good sense and also has touchscreen

I think what he meant is that it's probably impossible to convert gamerias to HTML5 right now.

Maybe it will be possible before the end of 2020.

Maybe. I said right now as in currently. Who knows if it's possible later on.

Yeah I know but then I asked if they can make new games in HTML5 and Matt didn't think so. So, yeah

Oh. But, I'm pretty sure when they make new gamerias, they copy their codes on things like the menu, shop, lobby, how customers are suppose to come in, etc. Then, they start changing and adding code that is suppose to be for the new game. For example, they're making Sushiria. They copy the codes from Bakeria, then they start adding and changing codes for Sushiria. Basically, if they were to make a new game with their codes being used from Flash, they probably don't know how to convert that coding to HTML5's coding. Then again, they might be similar.

Adobe Corp. needs to talk to the HTML5 Corp. in order to do something so that Flash could be convertable to HTML5 easy, gamewise of course.

It's sad to see the future of Flash where it is all discontinued. Will Newgrounds shut down?

If there actually was an "HTML5 Corp" it would help, but instead it's all based on whatever Google wants to add to their browser, which may be different from what Microsoft adds to their browsers, which might be different from what Apple and Mozilla and Opera and everyone else add to their browsers.  The technology behind HTML5 games can be very different from what Flash is based on (especially for our games -- vector graphic processing in HTML5 is awful), so you'd need to get everyone involved to agree to make improvements in those areas, which nobody has really committed to right now.  Getting everyone to agree to support the same things the same way is part of the reason why HTML5 improvements are so slow and so scattered, and why people have no idea if it will improve before Flash is gone.

In fact, why stop supporting Flash at all? :P

Yeaaaah. Microsoft probably endorses HTML5 the most as on Microsoft Edge the Flash support ends on 2019 even.

Flipline Studios, do you please have an advice how to keep flash games working when Flash will be ended? I do not mean "convert the games to HTML5" but "does exists another tool able to play games instead of Flash?"

If HTML doesn't make it possible to make gamerias on HTML, then the gamerias will need to become a download game on your computer!  :/  :o
