Post by: Ixora on June 01, 2017, 08:34:03 AM
Pweez sign this petition to ban testing cosmetics on animals!

https://www.foreveragainstanimaltesting.com/page/9986/petition/1

It's cruel, yeah. But other than that it's also unnecessary and less effective than methods of testing that DON'T involve animals.

Ban all testing on anklals
so do you want the testing to be on humans?

humans are animals so no

not sure how in vitro test tube testing will work tho
if you take tissue samples from an organism and put it to test so it doesn't harm the organism in any way

Title: Re: Petition to Ban Testing Cosmetics on Animals

For me, actually we have an entire history of cruelty to animals and it's in that way humans got civilized in the first place.

But in this case, it's unnecessary, less effective, wasteful and overall not really worth it. Tests that do notit involve animals are more effective. So why make animals suffer, when you could do something better?

Title: Re: Petition to Ban Testing Cosmetics on Animals

No, ban all the testing that could be harmful.

If we have animal testing than we should have human testing, though.

Here's my thought on this
IDRK what exactly constitutes as good testing. I do feel that animal testing has a bit of ethical issues..since after all, they are still animals, but products still need test trials and all to make sure they are safe.

I feel like living tissue sample testing seems like a viable option if possible. Since they are still living cells and you can still see if there is any harm done upon them.

Just because someone is a criminal does not mean that they have lost their human rights.

IMO Animal testing should be controlled and regulated so that less animals are used and that they are treated fairly.

No, ban all the testing that could be harmful.
Well, stuff have to be tested to check if they are harmful or not, so that doesn't really work
If we have animal testing than we should have human testing, though.
No, that's a terrible idea
Or they could use criminals for testing.
That’s a very bad idea

Someone mentioned earlier on the usage of criminals in product testing.

Your point is...?

Someone complained that it would be abusing people.

I commented on that, asking if it would be okay on child ***ists or murderers of children.

Title: Re: Petition to Ban Testing Cosmetics on Animals
Post by: Abu on June 02, 2017, 01:07:27 PM
If they learn to control how many or which types of animals, it might be okay. I think that animals such as rats or mice are fine, but others such as rabbits, hamsters, dogs, cats, etc. is a bit too much.

How is a mouse different from a dog and how is a dog different from a human?

Title: Re: Petition to Ban Testing Cosmetics on Animals
Post by: Chiral of Doom on June 02, 2017, 01:10:41 PM
I feel like if a human WANTS to have themselves be a test subject, they can. Clinical trials pay people to be their subjects under their consent.

Title: Re: Petition to Ban Testing Cosmetics on Animals
Post by: Abu on June 02, 2017, 01:12:12 PM
I think we should just remove these random harmful tests.

If it is for a new medication then they should get willing humans to be tested on it.

But we do not need to administrate electrical shocks to mice just to see if they will become scared of electricity or anything like that

Title: Re: Petition to Ban Testing Cosmetics on Animals

why not
we could learn more about how fears are developed, that's pretty important

But we would treat living and breathing things as just objects. If you want to learn how fears develop then don't use poor things that deserve a free home.

Roles in society
Mice don't do much except eat food and be eaten
Dogs have much more intelligence, and have been known to be friendly to other animals, and helpful
Humans have created civilization and have invented things to improve life
There is a huge difference

And all three feel pain, and should not be subjected to it for the cruel needs of scientists.

Title: Re: Petition to Ban Testing Cosmetics on Animals
Post by: Abu on June 02, 2017, 04:10:46 PM
But how can we test them then ?

1 - we stop the random atrocity experiments that have zero scientifically merit for any other reason than "hey what happens if we *insert painful thing for animals*.

2 - we use consenting humans that are paid to test this stuff, and obviously we would not perform experiments hat are extremely dangerous on them.

Title: Re: Petition to Ban Testing Cosmetics on Animals
Post by: Abu on June 02, 2017, 04:14:40 PM
Or we could use what Ianiant, Ixora and Robin suggested and use criminals that have done heinous acts for experiments.

Of course they would not be put into experiments that are really dangerous like radioactivity.

how do we test things like how the brain matures
you can't get infants and toddlers to say yes

By that logic no one would test anything, who cares if mice feel pain as long as the testing could be helpful

Because we do not have the right to take animals from their natural habitats and abuse them. Just because t could help us does not mean that anything must die.

We have the technology to phase out animal testing; our computers can simulate everything to a high degree of efficiency, to the point where all you need is to test it on humans and see if it works (for medicine). It is more expensive to do so, but we can do this instead which will actually be more accurate than testing on animals and morally right as well.

how do we test things like how the brain matures
you can't get infants and toddlers to say yesbut there isn't zero scientific meritwhat else would we use

I don't think we need to kill infants and toddlers to see their brain?

Harmless experiments should not be outlawed at all; I am talking about the ones that are 'tests' and potentially can kill.

There is not much scientific usage in "if we kill 500 mice, will the other leftover mice be scared?".

i mean..clinical trials are a thing...

they practically have to sign a contract like "we will pay you if we test this out on you, but we are not responsible if anything happens to you if you sign this."

guys, clinical trials are a thing lol

Are those where they basically get consenting adults to use new medicine?

Title: Re: Petition to Ban Testing Cosmetics on Animals
Post by: Abu on June 02, 2017, 04:33:48 PM

Because they ARE human in the end, and they are just like you. They shouldn't be poisoned just so we can see what happens.

you don't need to kill mice to look at fears

also there's the ethical dilemma of possibly ending one life to save thousands, which is the aim of medicine testing

Medicine or any chemical products matter of fact. so cosmetics count too.
they pay you if you are willing to be a subject, and you sign a contract saying you are responsible for anything that happens to you.

fun fact: my mom gets to write reports to either help approve/reject a new drug from entering the market.

Then we shouldn't kill mice to look at fears, but yet that is exactly what people will do in their experiments.

Let's not forget that they would have ***ed and/or killed children.

They have a beating heart, they have a conscience. Their choices should not mean that they should be condemned to extreme pain and torture. Solitary confinement is bad enough...

I would be fine with testing on those type of people as long as it is humane in some form.

Like, basically what I mean is we should not be torturing them.

If we do clinical testing on them without paying them (maybe they could shave off years for their sentence though) then it should be fine.

By clinical testing, I mean using relatively safe medication on them.

Killing them in painful ways should be banned.

But if it does not cause them pain and they do not know what is coming, like in Muslim killing, then it is fine in my opinion.

Title: Re: Petition to Ban Testing Cosmetics on Animals

In it, you cut the throats of the animal, which drains the blood and causes no registered pain to the animal. They will eventually feel sleepy and die from blood loss, without really even realising that their throat has been cut.

The western form of shocking animals is actually very painful.

It's the same difference. The humans were selected by nature to be more superior, such that they effectively control the Earth, the same way the President of the United States is likely to be a person who has done a lot of hard work and put in lots of efforts to reach their position, so he or she could not be compared to an ordinary person.

This is the cackling goose. The farther north you get, the smaller the Canada geese will get until you reach the far north of Canada where they are a completely different species.

ADORABLE :3

Once again, when is goose hunting season?

In Canada, goose hunting season occurs for a very short period of time in the spring and you can only kill two geese a day I think

Well if they're dangerous, you should be allowed unlimited geese per day.

Aren't geese, like, really aggressive? I mean they're cute, but they aren't the friendliest.
