Title: The Future of Board Moderation
Post by: Stan Loona on November 16, 2019, 07:53:36 PM
AskJoe [Nov 16 09:39 PM]:   I sent Matt a PM regarding Abu.

This PM here could mean many things, although true Matt may not demote him, it is clear to see that there's a very good chance Abu might be kicked from his job. So, with that in mind, what do you guys think will happen? If he's demoted and they need a new fill in, who has the best chance of taking his spot? Along with that, there's a good chance that they may not get a new board mod, Joe has been very independent as of late when it comes to his moding, so Matt may not think about replacements. But anyways... DISCUSS

I think that Kiefer Marsala would be a good mod

Kiefer would be pretty good. Pizzaccino too. But it depends on if they'd take the job honestly

Yeah, and if they’re active, too

I mean, I wouldn’t mind helping out, but I don’t think they’ll look for a replacement tbh.

Pizzaccino is the best candidate.

Abu has been banned three times. Do you REALLY think he still deserves his position?

I don't think Abu should be a board moderator anymore. As for a replacement, I don't know if that's necessary. If I was ever somehow asked, I would do it and I'd definitely take it seriously.

Yeah, Pizza and Kiefer would rock that. :)
The board mods aren't even active

Someone should also take magicmusic’s position as a board mod since he’s already a global mod

He’s inactive anyway and so is D-Walker so if we wanted to replace every inactive mod we would have 3 new board mods and 2 new global mods

But do we need a board mod for Fan Art? No we don’t. Anyway, for Global Mods, we’re fine with Joe, but since Penguin022 is somewhat inactive we should get a new board mod. I still think Abu’s ban was unfair, but if he gets demoted we will need a replacement.

IMO he deserved it because he obviously didn’t learn his lesson from repeatedly spamming by getting his topics deleted

He’s probably not getting demoted, at least at the moment, but I think the forum could use a few new mods anyway

Where are we going to find 5 new mods? Joe is fine.

True

Plus I didn’t mean 5 new global mods, I meant 2 new global mods and 3 board mods

every time a global mod went inactive, Matt promoted a new one
there was never more than 1 at a time

True

Plus I didn’t mean 5 new global mods, I meant 2 new global mods and 3 board mods

Few issues/questions regarding that.

1. Favouritism can exist, unfortunately, if the wrong person is selected for a mod. Doubt that'll happen but worth taking note of.
2. Isn't Joe enough for a global mod since he's active?
3. Fan Art doesn't really need board mods anymore. If we did, it'd kinda make sense for Kiefer to be Board Mod of Sign Up Games, for instance.
4. Forum & General Discussion + Off Topic Board Mods really asks the same question, is there any need for it anymore? It's quite redundant I'd say.
5. Pretty sure Matt said a few months ago (KCP period) in the shoutbox he has no plans to change the mod team (as in additions I presume). Not too sure how accurate/valid this is now but it's a thing I'd note as well.

That's my views on it.

Matt has finally responded to my PM. Here is the PM I sent him...
Hi Matt,

I just wanted to make you aware of Abu's recent behavior. He, along with The color of mood is blue, has been consistently creating spam topics since September. Up until recently it has been relatively simple to handle, but now when I delete spam topics Abu simply recreates the spam topic, and sometimes even stickies the spam topic. He does this while claiming I am abusing my power when I am just removing the spam. Tonight in the shoutbox (around 6 PM CT) he threatened to create 10 spam topics per day. He is now banned for 1 week for spamming, but mostly for threatening to break guidelines.

Given his recent behavior I am questioning whether he is fit to be a board mod, and I think we could find someone else to replace him, but that is up to you to decide. I just wanted to make you aware of what has been happening lately.

Thanks,
Joe
...and his response.
Hi Joe,

Thanks for letting me know, yeah I had noticed some of the spammy topics from both Abu and the color of the mood is blue before.  We'll keep an eye on how things go when Abu's ban is over.

Thanks,
Matt
