Title: Re: Tutorials

the shiny avatar tutorial:
1. Take the picture you want to make.
2. Want to change background? do it in paint or from somewhere else.
3. Now, choose the bevel effect from the picture menu
4. Choose the "circle" bevel.
There are then many things you can do after, but the simple is this!

1. You can do a multi-post tutorial
2. No posting in the middle of a multi post totrial
3 No begging for people to help you
4. No totorials on how to do profane artworks(doodle person)
5. Have funs!

i made a tutorial in my request tropic.

BTW brief flipline style with SAI

Grab a flipline base. Use KCP 2013. Make a girl with a bald head.

Open it in SAI.

For hair, try sketching it above. After that, make a linework layer and outline your sketch. Your linework color should be darker than your base hair color.

Color within the lines... UNDER the linework. You can delete your sketch if you want bcuz it's useless now LOL

Make a linework layer and check the box for clipping group ABOVE YOUR COLOR LAYER. Start shading with a lower color. Do another lower color shading if you feel like it..

Using the base for clothing, grab the lightest color and then color the lightest shading on the shirt. Grab another layer. Grab a darker shade of your light color. outline next darker shade. Remember that you need to outline your clothing too..

Then turn off [dont delete] your lightest color and base color. Use the fill toot. REMEMBER TO PUT IT ON TRANSPARENCY (STRICT) NOT COLOR DIFFERENCE

then do the same with the rest of the shadings.

If you want to change the color of your shoes, use the select tool ON THE LAYER OF THE SHOES. well not on top, but the layer the shoes are in.

then after that press "Ctrl+U" and you can change the color by playing with the Hue bar. You can change it's Saturation with the saturation bar of course. and you can change it's darkness with the luminesence bar.

blah.

WHEN MAKING YOUR OWN SHADING: Sometimes there are different types of clothing and you kind of need to use common sense in shading it.

The pencil tool. Look at the tools box and click on the pencil.

It leaves pixels

Look in Templates

I think page 2 or 3?

CherryCordialicious has the mostly used female base, and Almei made a male version for it.

If you want something different, Hecatia posted an alternate shoe base there too

Clownpiece! [Oct 25 01:11 AM]:   if u want i can show u the brush i use for BLENDING (shading and blending are different words) and its settings
Clownpiece! [Oct 25 01:12 AM]:   ok
Clownpiece! [Oct 25 01:12 AM]:   lemme screenshot...
Clownpiece! [Oct 25 01:13 AM]:   but remember: there will be some parts you do not want to blend and make it look static.
Clownpiece! [Oct 25 01:13 AM]:   and always blend in the direction of the flow of the object
Clownpiece! [Oct 25 01:14 AM]:   it takes a lot of time to perfect a gradient, trust me.
Clownpiece! [Oct 25 01:15 AM]:   but really, you should not be aiming for gradients @hecatia
Clownpiece! [Oct 25 01:15 AM]:   because that's basically the same as doing it with the airbrush tool with default settings
Clownpiece! [Oct 25 01:15 AM]:   well it depends on the style you're going for...
Clownpiece! [Oct 25 01:16 AM]:   but if you're asking on HOW i do it, well, yeah..
Clownpiece! [Oct 25 01:16 AM]:   here's the screenshot...
Clownpiece! [Oct 25 01:16 AM]:   ALSO HERE'S A GREAT TIP
Clownpiece! [Oct 25 01:16 AM]:   use multiple layers, and some layers u might want to make it into a multiply layer...
Clownpiece! [Oct 25 01:17 AM]:   and i reccomend using the same size of brush unless it gets necessary where u have to make it smaller or bigger.
Clownpiece! [Oct 25 01:20 AM]:   if u want more control on the base shading (THE ONE BEFORE U BLEND THE COLORS) use the linework layer, and then merge the layer into a normal layer.
Clownpiece! [Oct 25 01:20 AM]:   and you should always make a separate layer for each color you are blending...

Title: Re: Tutorials!
Post by: Soundbord on April 10, 2016, 11:52:38 AM
Hm, that's pretty interesting. I admit I was always lazy and used the same hue from the color wheel for all shading ;p

However, the affect this person uses, it reminds me of watercolor, and not necessarily the effect I'm going for LOL. Still is useful.

I am having trouble with colouring skin it's either really Gray or really bright
LOL I've never had trouble with making skin tones tbh ;p I'm good at that. It's hair shading that usually ends up looking weird for my pictures... although to be honest, when I use colored pencils for example, I shade using different colors more often... but my skin tones are harder to get exactly the way I want

I have nothing against using a mouse or mouse users because I was one of those people. I still am but not as much as I use to though. Before I even had a tablet I would draw on MS. Paint all the time to enhance my skills and I finally got to the point to where I became good at it. It took years of practice and patience but I was finally able to understand the basics of everything. But I have to say drawing with a mouse limits you in someways, it does not give that same feel as drawing on paper and I find myself frustrated if the drawing doesn't turn out the way I wanted it. You can say both drawing on a tablet or with a mouse has it's pros and cons. I like the natural feel that the tablet gives as if I am drawing traditionally.

Right , traditional is easier than using a mouse . I started recently to draw traditionally and take a picture of it to color it digitally .

Traditional = easier to control
Digital = easier to fix

Trololol~ So I made these simple but practical mini-tutorials on one way to draw simple eyes on MS Paint or other similar digital programs. I may make one or two more later~

when I'm drawing IRL though I use markers and pencils; for colored pencils saturated/shadows means adding the opposite hue or a cooler/darker pencil lol~ for highlights you just shade less. (I feel like there's a tutorial like that on an older page but 2 lazy)

2. Grab some paper

Also does anyone use Clip Studio Paint? I can recommend some good tutorials I found on Twitter if anyone wants.
