Chapter 294. The Stranger.

Back home.

That night.

Sun sat on the stairs listening to Fire who was messing with the cats while telling Sun about his day. Rayon puttered around unsure of what he should do since his wife was talking with Loyal and Fire was talking to Sun.

Sun: So, did you ever find Doragon's parents?
Fire: No, Cosmic said he'll keep looking.
Faisceau: Was it nice there, Loyal?
Loyal: Uh-huh, and Sand found a fairy that wants to live with her.
Sun: A fairy? Did she take it home?
Fire: No, Doragon managed to make it stay.
Rayon: That's cute. Did you see anything you like, Fire?
Fire: A Pheonix! I saw a Phoenix!!
Rayon: Isn't that a fiery bird?
Fire: Yup! It was so beautiful.
Rayon: Anything else?
Fire: Loyal was talking to a girl.

Rayon and Faisceau stared at Loyal.

Loyal: What?
Rayon: A girl, Loyal? You met-
Loyal: An Undine.
Sun: What's that?
Loyal: Some water creature that has no soul.
Fire: No soul? Heck, you better not marry her then.
Loyal: Marry?
Fire: Don't play dumb with me. I saw you two.
Loyal: Ever heard of being just friends, Fire?
Rayon: Guys.
Fire: I heard her, Loyal. What's her name? Riverhead, wasn't it?
Loyal: Riverheart.
Fire: Yeah, the little fish thought you were cute.

Faisceau cried out softly but then quickly covered her mouth. Rayon frowned at Sun and then at Loyal.

Faisceau: Why do they want a relationship already??
Loyal: Ma, we're just friends.
Fire: I hope so.
Sun: You're just jealous, Fire.
Faisceau: Sun.
Fire: I'm not jealous.
Sun: Yes, you are.
Fire: I'm not
Sun: Are so.
Fire: I'm not, now stop flipping arguing with me, because I'm not.

Sun shrugged and turned his attention to Loyal.

Sun: Friends, yes?
Loyal: Yes, I don't know what Fire saw.
Sun: Fire is immature, that's why he doesn't have a girlfriend.
Fire: Glad I don't. Look at you and Moon.

Rayon rolled his eyes at Fire who was smirking at Sun.

Faisceau: I wish you guys would wait.
Loyal: Ma! I'm not in love.
Rayon: Good. What you and Fire need are decent-
Faisceau: Ssh!
Loyal: I hope she doesn't like me like that...
Fire: I think she does.
Loyal: How do you know?
Fire: I can see these things, Loyal.

Sun: Yeah? Why can't you see Sand falling for you?

Fire: What?
Sun: I didn't say anything.
Loyal: Can we talk about something else?
Fire: Fine, just tell her next time to put some clothes on. For god's sake why wasn't she wearing anything??

Faisceau and Rayon both yelped startling the cats. Loyal's eyes widened.

Loyal: She wasn't?
Fire: No, didn't you see?
Loyal: No.
Fire: Ah.
Sun: Cosmic said they don't wear anything because they are innocent and pure like the water, stupid.
Fire: Okay, okay, chill.

Rayon and Faisceau sighed loudly when Sun spoke about innocence. Rayon still felt a bit nervous, what about Doragon? Did she still like Loyal?

Sun: Are you going back?
Fire: Yeah, later.
Loyal: I want to find Doragon's parents.
Faisceau: Aw.
Sun: I wonder if they are dead.
Rayon: I hope not.

After a few hours, it was time to go to bed. After saying goodnight, Loyal headed off to bed in Death's room. A few cats jumped up thinking it was Death who walked in. Sadly, Loyal got into bed hugging Death's stuff octopus that Himitsu gave him years ago. For the millionth time, Loyal wished that Death was with him. Would Death ever return?

Where Death was.

Death sat alone by the waterfall listening to the water crash against the rocks. A few heavy clouds moved by slowly as they were unsure if they should gather together and start a storm. Even though it hurt, Death picked at his cuticles hoping that the pain will cover the one in his heart.

It didn't work.

Thunder boomed overhead, and the warm rain begin to fall. Death never moved from his rock.

Why should he?

No one cared about him. Not even that Loyal who threw him out like a criminal. Death rubbed his arms still looking at the water rising.

"Excuse me?"

Death picked up his head thinking he heard someone talking.

"Hello?"

Death turned his head. A small lantern was bobbing by in the water. Someone was rowing towards him in a boat.

Death: Hello?

The stranger lifted his lantern to see Death clearly. Death didn't move.

"What are you doing here?"

"Just sitting."

"In the rain?"

"Yes. I'm about to leave."

"Where?"

"Somewhere."

"Where are your parents?"

"...Dead."

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that."

"Don't be."

"Where will you go now?"

"Anywhere."

"... get in the boat."

"No thanks. I should get going."

"It's alright. I won't hurt you, honest."

The man held out his hand to Death looking at him in the eyes. Gulping, Death scratched at his hand.

The same hand where the sword cut him.

"Come on."

Without thinking, Death got into the boat with the man. The rain continued to fall as the man and Death sailed off.

"What's your name?"

"Death. What's yours?"

"You can call whatever you like."

"Okay."

Death failed to see the shadowy spirits swimming after them.

Where Loyal was.

Sadly, Loyal looked out the window watching the rain. Fire came up behind Loyal holding Cricket.

"I hope Death is alright."

"Me too."

Chapter 295. "Uncle"

Inside the strangers' house.

Death sat on a wooden chair scratching the cut on his hand wondering why it itched so much. The stranger sat at the table just staring intently at Death making him feel nervous. Now that Death was in the light, he could see the strangers face more clearly. The stranger had a round face and his eyes were a deep brown to match with his short hair.

Death: I don't know what to call you. Can I call you Uncle?

The stranger nodded his head at Death laughing softly. Death smiled weakly and looked out the window. The rain was beginning to weaken, but it still wasn't safe to go out.

Death: Thank you for taking me in for a while.
Uncle: No problem, Death. Tell me, why were you in the rain?
Death: I was resting.
Uncle: Why didn't you seek shelter?
Death: Why should I? No one cares anymore.
Uncle: Where is your family?

Death didn't answer but squeeze the mug in his hands. The trees scratched at the windows when the wind blew at them.

Death: My real father is dead.
Uncle: You didn't have anyone to go to?
Death: No, my younger twin threw me out.
Uncle: Threw you out? Whatever for?
Death: He hates me because of what happened.
Uncle: But you did nothing.

Death bit down on his tongue. Why is this man asking so many questions? Why does he care? But hearing the man talk so gently to him made Death feel comfortable and safe.

Death: I kinda did... I killed him.

Closing his eyes, Death waited for Uncle to bombard him with questions, like, "How?" and "Why?" But, Uncle said nothing to Death but tap his fingers on the table.

Uncle: You poor boy.
Death: I didn't know a slap could kill him.
Uncle: Then it really isn't your fault, Death.
Death: But, my brother said it was.
Uncle: Who is your brother? What right did he have to throw you out?
Death: He does have the right to throw me away... His name is Loyal.
Uncle: Loyal?
Death: Ay, that's his name.
Uncle: He's the God of Life, right?
Death: Yeah.
Uncle: *Snorts* What a beautiful name for a heartless ****.

Death stopped himself from agreeing. Uncle glanced over at Death with sad eyes.

Uncle: I didn't know you were his twin.
Death: Was. I was his twin.
Uncle: Poor thing. You lost your father and your twin.
Death Yeah.
Uncle: Oh... I never thought Loyal would do this. Betray you when you needed him.
Death: It's alright, Uncle. I deserve this exile.
Uncle: Exile, huh? I remember when I was exiled.

Death looked up. Exiled?

Death: You were exiled?
Uncle: Yep.
Death: For what?
Uncle: For a murder that was an accident. Looks like we are alike.

Uncle smiled gently at Death who smiled back. The rain stopped, and only the wind blew.

Death: I'm sorry to hear that, Uncle.
Uncle: It's alright, Death. It's best to be alone.
Death: I don't like it.
Uncle: Why not?
Death: It hurts.
Uncle: It hurt me for a while, too, but I realized that they were not my friends if they did this to me.

Drinking his coffee, Death thought about Uncle's words. True. If they truly loved him, they would've forgiven him.

Death: I wish I wasn't alone. I wish my father was here; that way we can be together again.
Uncle: I wish I could help you.
Death: There isn't anything you can do.
Uncle: Would it help if I told you I know someone who is a spirit summoner?

Death looked up at Uncle. A spirit summoner? Only deities can do that.

Death: Who is this person? I want to hear my father.
Uncle: He lives far away in the mountains, Death. It's a long journey for a thin boy like you.
Death: I'm going to find this spirit summoner, Uncle. Please help me.
Uncle: I'll do my best, Death.

Two hours passed and Uncle gave Death a map to find the spirit summoner. Excited, Death prepared to leave.

Death: I hope I get to see you again, Uncle.
Uncle: I hope so, too, Death. Good luck.

Death hugged his friend goodbye before leaving. The sun was beginning to rise lighting a way fro Death who whistled cheerfully.

Shadowy spirits gathered around at Amagna's Okubi's feet.

Amagna Okubi: I love deities when they are so clear-minded, do you, Uncle?

Looking over his shoulder, Amagna Okubi cackled at the man on the floor. The man wasn't breathing, his dark brown eyes were wide open, but he stared into nothing.

Amagna Okubi: No hard feelings? I needed a body shell to talk with Death and you were the only one I saw here. Ciao.

Amagna Okubi flew off to beat Death to the mountains. The man that Amagna unmercifully murdered and possed laid there on the floor of his own home. Vultures gathered on the porch peeking in through the open door.

Cloud got one vote. (Heck, since she left Water, I guess she is single.  Laugh )
Fire got one vote. (Two enemies, eh? lol -Harpooned-)
Loyal got one vote. (Heck, I never saw that one coming.)
Two voters want me to give him someone to love. ( Chill, dog. ❤ )
The rest got zero votes.

That poll was fun. I wonder who voted for Fire and Loyal. (I'm totally cool with your shippings.) Next up is Earth. ❤

Chapter 296. The Voices.

A month later.

Three of Amagna Okubi's spirits flew into the tree watching Death closely. Poor foolish Death continued walking to find the man that Uncle told him about, one of Amagna's spirits form the shape of a hawk; and flew off to tell Amagna that Death was still traveling. Death smiled at the "hawk" thinking it was an ordinary bird. The second spirit flew away to see if Death was being followed and mostly to see if Loyal or any other deity were heading in Death's direction.

Cloud frowned at the black cloud that floated next to her white fluffy clouds. As soon as Cloud approached it, the "cloud" floated off. Loyal's deities were still far off. If Death keeps walking, Loyal will never find him.

Death walked on in the summer heat and kept walking through the night. Now, Death was too far for Loyal to find just like how Amagna predicted.

Amagna listened to the report before sending his spirits on its way. A few weeks later, one of the spirits reported to Amagna that to confuse Loyal they need to cover Death's tracks. Amagna agreed.

A month later.

While Death rested on a rock, Amagna Okubi peeked from a tree staring at Death. Amagna craved for Death's powers, but he couldn't kill him now. A few spirits warned Amagna not to attack yet, but Amagna couldn't help it.

Death stared a few clouds float by and never saw the large spirit racing towards him.

BAM!!

Amagna flew backward when he flew right into the shield. The spirits snickered seeing their leader on the floor. Death got up and walked on.

"Silence! He'll hear you."

"We told you to stop."

"I don't understand, how is he protected?"

"Loyal, duh. Death is in the human world, so he is protected."

"I wish I knew that. Any idea how to remove it?"

The spirits shrugged.

"Death is not corrupted yet, Amangy."

"Tell me something I don't know."

"Idiot, corrupt him."

"What?"

"Death is still in his brother's law. Corrupt him to leave it."

"But Death will still be more powerful than I."

"So? Can't you wait until he is weak enough and then you can take what you want?"

"Didn't you already cut him with your sword? I shouldn't take long."

Amagna Okubi sighed tiredly and told his spirits to go after Death. The spirits flew after Death leaving their master to think out his plan.

A few minutes later, Amagna called a few more spirits and told them what to do.

As Death traveled, he began to hear voices in his head. Awful voices cursing Loyal and his laws making Death slightly nervous, but worst of all.

Pleased.

Each passing day, Death slowly became more and more corrupted, and the long cut on Death's hand grew a dark coat over it trapping Amagna's poison inside.

Where Loyal was.

Doragon crouched in front Loyal slowly flapping her wings. Loyal flapped his wings making a loud flapping sound.

Doragon huffed at Loyal to make him stop. Loyal watched Doragon more closely watching her every move.

Her massive wings barely made a sound. Loyal gave it a shot.

Flap.

flap.

*Growls*

"Sorry."

Sun and Fire sat on the steps watching Doragon teach Loyal.

"Loyal, you're doing it again."

"I have ears, Sun."

"Remember, Loyal.Himitsu is no longer here to berate you, you can relax."

"I'll keep that in mind, Fire."

Doragon looked at Loyal straight in the eye. Loyal could see his reflection in her large firey orchid eyes and thought about what Fire said and how Doragon trusted him.

Loyal flapped his wings.

"Hey, Loyal! That was great!!"

"Really?"

"You didn't make a noise!!"

Smiling, Loyal fluttered his wings again.

Nothing.

Sun and Fire cheered and Doragon chirped at Loyal who beamed.

A month later.

Panting, Death grabbed the rock and hoisted himself up to the flat surface of the rock. Looking behind him, Death saw how far away he was from his home, but he kept climbing and listening to the voices.

"He had no right to do this to you."

"Who does Loyal think he is?"

"Leaving them was for the best, Death."

"You don't need them."

"Forget them."

Death huffed from the cold and grabbed the large snow covered rock. Amagna Okubi and his spirits waited and watched.

Chapter 297. The Summit.

"Come on, come, you little ****. Climb faster."

Amagna's spirit's hovered above Amagna's head waited impatiently for Death to arrive.

Growling slightly, Death pulled himself up and landed face first onto the snow. He made it.

"You don't need them anymore."

"You made it."

"I'm here."

Standing up, Death pulled his scarf around his mouth and glanced over his shoulder. Massive black clouds rapidly gathered together to cover the moon.

The "Clouds" stared at Death who was looking for an entrance.

Death: Hello?

The wind blew harshly at Death nearly knocking him down.

Death: Helloooo??! Is anyone here?!

Thunder boomed in the distance as Death brushed some snow away from the rocks looking for a door. Death began to wonder if Uncle was a liar.

Crrrr...

Death jumped after hearing the sound of a door opening. It never occurred to Death that one cannot live in this frozen summit without freezing to death. It was impossible for a human to live in such a cold place.

Amagna's spirits snickered.

Death: Hello? I'm looking for the spirit summoner, are you-

Death stopped talking abruptly when a massive ice door opened for him. Death shivered and stared into the pitch black entrance. No light. No human. Nothing. Death gulped down his fear and went inside. The door closed trapping Death inside the cold black room.

Still asking questions, Death looked around the dark room hoping to find someone with a light.

Death: Hello? Are you the spirit summoner?

The wind continued to blow outside with hollow moan. Death looked around the dark room hearing a few bats screeching at him.

Or someone.

"Excuse me? I'm looking-"

"I already heard you."

"I'm sorry, I was just-"

"Welcome, Death."

"Oh, thank you. -Ahem- You are the spirit summoner, right?"

"I am he."

"Oh, good. I thought this was some trick. Can I ask you a question?"

"Yes...?"

"How do you know my name?"

"Who gave you the map?"

"Some man."

"There you have it."

"How did he tell you?"

"He has his ways, Death."

A small light floated by next to Death, but no one was holding it.

"What's your name?"

"... Ekekho Neyodwa."

"Oh, that's a nice name."

"I guess."

"I'm Death."

"I know."

"Oops, sorry. Tell me, Ekekho Neyodwa, where are you?"

"Right here."

"I can't see you."

"You don't need to see me."

"Why not?"

"Just because, now, why are you here?"

"This man told me that you can summon spirits, I want to hear my father."

"Why?"

"I want to know if he forgives me."

"That's not why you are here."

"What? Of course-"

"You're here because you are hoping that there is some way to bring him back."

Death stiffened when Ekekho Neyodwa spoke. Yes, that's why Death was here. Even though he kept telling himself he wanted to hear his father, deep down inside, Death wanted to bring his father back.

"Ekekho Neyodwa-"

"It's alright, Death, I understand that you want your father back."

"Please bring him back to me, Ekekho Neyodwa."

"Oh, Death. I don't know if-"

"Please try."

"Okay, Death. I'll try."

"Thank you, Ekekho Neyodwa."

"Do you have anything of his?"

"Will this robe count? He made it for me."

"I'm looking for skin or blood, Death."

"Oh... I don't have any."

"Oh. Can I have some of yours, then?"

"Huh?"

"You're his son, right?"

"Yes."

"I need a little bit of your blood, Death. It might work since you are his son."

"Oh, okay. Not too much, please."

"No worries."

Amagna grabbed one of his spirits warning him not to kill Death just yet. Death could barely feel the needle poke his fingertip.

"Did it hurt?"

"No."

"Okay. Why don't you rest for a while?"

"No thanks."

"Just rest, Death. It will take a while for me to finish."

Death felt a hand pat him on the head. Yawning, Death rested against the icy wall and fell asleep. Amagna looked at his spirits who looked surprised.

"Goddamn! This is easy than I expected!!"

"Don't get cocky, Amagna. Hurry up and kill him."

"No, we wait."

"For what!? Kill the little ****!!"

"Just watch me."

"FOR WHAT!!?"

"Sssh."

The spirit bristled but said nothing.

Two hours later.

Blinking, Death looked for Ekekho Neyodwa.

"Did it work?"

"Sadly, no."

"But, Ekekho Neyodwa-"

"Now, Death. Don't get upset. Resurrecting the dead can take weeks."

"Weeks??"

"I promise you, I'll bring Himitsu back."

"-Sighs-"

"For now, you are welcome to-"

"I have to go."

"Where are you going? I know you were exiled by that awful Loyal."

"I'll find someplace to live."

"But what about your father?"

"Um."

"You have to stay here or It won't work if you are gone."

"Oh. In that case."

Death sat back down.

"Showtime."

Death began to hear the voices again while Amagna floated about the room.

Chapter 298. The Corruption of Death.

"Look how far you made it, Death. You should be very proud of yourself."

"I don't know... I only came here only to be disappointed."

"What? You came here to bring your father back. What's wrong now?"

"Ekekho Neyodwa can't do it."

"He promised you, child."

"I hope Uncle wasn't wrong."

"Oh, no, Death. Uncle wasn't wrong. Uncle told you the truth."

"I hope Loyal will be happy-"

"What? Loyal?? What's he have to do with it."

"I'm bringing Himitsu back for the both of us."

"Oh, Death... Stop being so goddamn stupid."

"I'm not, I'm thinking of both of us. When father comes back, Loyal-"

"Let you back?"

"Yeah."

"What makes you think that Loyal still cares?"

"He must. We're brothers. We stick together."

"Is that a fact, now?? Then why didn't he keep you in your dark hours?"

"He-"

"Why didn't he forgive you?

"He will-"

"Why isn't he here with you?"

"Because-"

"Why did he say it behind your back one night?"

"What??"

"He said... I ... Hate...-"

"No! He never said that!"

"Oh, but he did. He was talking to his deities in the temples."

Still leaning against the wall, Death saw a vision he was in the temples. Loyal had his back turned to him listening to the others.

"Loyal?"

Loyal said nothing.

"Loyal, it's me."

No one could see or hear Death. Loyal begin to talk to Sun and Fire.

"How long will this keep up, Loyal?"

"I'll do something."

"It hurts to keep a murderer in this beautiful place, Loyal."

"I know, Sun... I need to get rid of him."

"Loyal, is there-"

"No, I will not let him stay. This has gone far enough."

"What will you do?"

"Exile. If I kill him, it'll only make everyone suffer for my "Heartless Action". Stupid law."

"Yes. Tell us, brother. Do you forgive him?"

"No, Fire. I."

Loyal, no!!"

"Hate him."

Death fell back with a small cry; he was back in the darkened room.

"You see? After all those years of you protecting him? He punishes you?"

"I'm doing this to bring back our father and to earn Loyal's forgiveness!!"

"His forgiveness isn't real then."

"What?"

"If he forgives you because you bring your father back, then it isn't real."

"I-"

"Loyal should forgive you for everything. And for the death of your father, he cuts ties from you?"

"Even if he does this, I still have Fire and Sun. They'll forgive me."

"They threw you away as well! They never stopped your brother."

"No! Sun said he will be there always."

"Why didn't he stop Loyal?"

"I don't know!! They are upset!"

"This is a little too far, Death."

"No!! I want forgiveness!!"

"Why?"

"I need it!! I don't want to-"

"Death. It's over."

Death crumpled to the icy floor screaming Loyal's name over and over until his throat became raw.

"It's over now, Death."

"It can't be..."

"It is. Free yourself."

"I can't."

"Free yourself from the hate of your brother. Look what it is doing to you."

"I-"

"There is no other choice."

Death laid there on the floor wiping the tears from his eyes. The freezing room made Death numb with frostbite. Still, Death sat up. The voices were right.

"Free yourself."

"I am free."

"Louder."

"I am free."

"You don't need them, Death."

"No, I don't."

"You don't need Loyal."

"No, he is dead to me."

"Yes, my child. It's good to be alone."

"Yes."

"Death-"

"Damn him."

"What?"

"Damn him. Damn Loyal."

"Oh?"

"Damn him. DAMN HIM!!!"

Amagna backed away from Death when he jumped up angrily. The Corruption of Death was beginning. Amagna and his spirits smiled at each other hearing Death curse Loyal's name.

"Damn him! Damn Loyal Silent Voice!! Damn him!! I HATE YOU, LOYAL!!! I HATE YOU!!!"

Amagna Okubi was getting what he wanted.

Chapter 299. The Hurricane.

A year later.

"Fire, are you alright?"

"Fire? Baby?"

Groaning, Fire opened his eyes. Rayon and Faisceau were sitting beside his bed rubbing his hair back. Sun and Loyal were standing at the foot of the bed.

Fire: What happened?
Rayon: You were-
Fire: I lost, didn't I?
Faisceau: I'm afraid so... Lakas beat you.
Fire: No surprise there, ma.
Faisceau: Oh, baby.
Fire: Ah well. Everyone knows Lakas would defeat me.
Rayon: -Sighs-
Fire: What happened to my leg?
Sun: Okay, that part was scary. You slammed right into the box that held the axes and one nearly cut your leg off.
Rayon: It scared us all.
Loyal: Earth's mother had to act fast because too much blood was spilling out. What surprised us that you didn't go into shock.

Fire scowled at his bandaged leg and touched the necklace that had Blod's stone.

Good old Blod.

Looking out the window, Fire saw black storm clouds covering the moon.

Fire: Why is it so dark outside?
Faisceau: Hurricane.

After a few minutes of talking, Faisceau and Rayon told Fire to get some sleep. Sun left shooing the cats out.

Loyal stayed behind with his head down.

Fire: You okay?
Loyal: I'm sorry you are injured, Fire.
Fire: I'm fine. See? Fine.
Loyal: But your leg.
Fire: Earth's mom knows what she is doing. I won't lose it.

A clap of thunder startled Loyal making him yelp. Fire started snickering when the lights went off. Rayon and Sun were trying to calm Baby Waffles down while Faisceau scurried around for candles.

Loyal: Oh! Oh! I hope-

Loyal stopped and held his hands to his mouth. Squinting, Fire only saw Loyal's glowing eyes in the dark room like two weak suns.

Poor Loyal. Already thirteen and he wasn't aging well. Sure, he is going through what the other young Gods had to, but Loyal. Loyal was another story.

After Death ran away, Loyal became more and more jittery and moody. He counted his friends and each older deity each night in case one was missing. If miscounted, Loyal would get hysterical, and Rayon would have to hang onto him in case he ran.

Whenever Death's birthday came, Loyal would wait by the door waiting for his brother to come strolling up. Death never came, and the cake that Fire helped Loyal make went to waste.

He was failing in school which made Faisceau fret. Late at night, Sun stayed up with Loyal helping him with his studies.

"I wish Death was here." Became Loyal's famous words.

Despite all of this, Loyal made time to listen to each deities problems and do his work.

It wasn't fair.

Loyal was growing up the wrong way. His emotions were like the hurricane outside.

Fire: Loyal?
Loyal: I'm scared, Fire.
Fire: Yeah?
Loyal: I don't know if Death is safe in this awful storm...
Fire: I'm sure he found some shelter.
Loyal: Why did he leave?
Fire: I wish I could answer your question, Loy-loy.
Loyal: What will happen? I want him back.

Holding a small flame in his hand, Fire stared at Loyal. Loyal stood there looking like a broken toy.

His white hair was cut short and choppy due to a taffy making incident with Rain; his thin arms and body were hidden underneath a baggy sweater he now wore because he was always cold, but he wore it because it made him feel safe.

Fire: Sit with me.

Loyal curled up next to Fire playing with his fingers as if he was a child. Fire didn't mind.

Loyal needed him.

Some of Fire's friends told him that he was "babying" Loyal too much, but Fire didn't listen to them. Whenever Fire was talking with his friends, Loyal would be far away watching them like a sad puppy. Laughing kindly, Fire would go over and drag Loyal with him.

Sure, Sun took care of Loyal but bothered him sometimes. One day, Sun told Loyal to back off for a few minutes. Of course, Loyal was wounded hearing Sun's sharp voice.

Now, it was Fire taking care of Loyal. Helping him with school, making sure he didn't forget anything, waiting for him to hurry up, and most of all.

Listening to him and drying his tears.

Fire: It will be alright, Loyal.
Loyal: Will Death ever come back?

Loyal held up a small picture of them in a pile.

Sun was at the bottom of Fire on top of him, Death was on Fire and Loyal was at the top.

All four of them smiling.

Fire: He'll come back, Loyal. I promise.
Loyal: What if someone hurts him?
Fire: I'll make sure that person suffers greatly for it.
Loyal: -Sighs-
Fire: I don't want anyone hurting my bee-bee brothers.

The hurricane raged outside making Loyal whimper. Fire pulled him close and kissed the top of his head.

An hour later.

Fire glanced up to look at the stars that twinkled brightly. Was Death looking at them?

Loyal was asleep with his head on Fire's shoulder. Smoothing his hair down, Fire placed his head on Loyal's head sighing softly.

How long will Death be gone?

Fire closed his eyes and said a small prayer for Death.

"I'm sorry, Loyal. For you, I would bring Death back home. I'll unite you two one day."

Loyal whined in his sleep. Fire hugged him tighter.

"I promise... I promise I'll bring him back to you no matter what."

Chapter 300. Deities.

Years later.

Story: HEY!! Get down from there, or you'll break your necks!!
Rock: Ma!! I'm not a baby anymore!!
Story: I don't care! Lakas!!
Lakas: Story, they are working!!
Story: Rock!!

Rolling his eyes, Rock and his older sister climbed up higher breaking the marble with their hammers and chisels. Story was screaming at them to get down.

Mountain: Mama, move or the marble is going to land on you!!

Story scampered out of the way when the marble came gliding down the rocky slope.

Crash!!

Lakas looked out the window to see if Story was safe. Rock and Mountain hurried down to check on their prize.

Mountain: Perfect! Who shall we carve into it?
Rock: It's going to become a marble table, Mountain.
Mountain: Marble moving, everyone!! Let's get this out of here!!!

Rock's siblings and more deities hurried over with their ropes and hooks. Story walked back to Lakas who was chipping away at a granite block.

Story: I don't like my babies doing such hard work.
Lakas: How old are they now, love?
Story: Rock is twenty-six and Mountain is twenty-nine.
Lakas: Well, they are not babies anymore, Story.
Story: All of this is such backbreaking labor.
Lakas: They enjoy it.
Story: But, Lakas-
Lakas: Don't worry, Story; Go do something you like.
Story: Call me when a boulder flattens them.

Lakas nodded his head and went back to work. Story walked off holding her books to her chest wondering if she'll ever let her babies grow up.

All of them left one by one to their homes leaving her in tears.

Ocean: Hello, Story.
Story: Hello, Ocean. How are yours?
Ocean: Little wifey is sad because her babies are gone.
Story: I can feel her pain.

While Ocean and Story talked, someone zoomed past them saying hello. in the distance, Faisceau was screaming at them to slow down.

Ocean: Was that Rayon?
Story: No.

At the temples.

A tall deity scribbled in his notebook pausing every five minutes to read what he wrote. Cloud and Earth sat next to him playing chess.

CRASH!!

Earth and Cloud didn't look up from their game. The deity sighed after hearing the tables crashing into the wall. Wind stood up wiping the blood from his mouth.

Wind: Hey! Who do you think won?
Fire: Me, duh.
Wind: Yeah? Who won, Loyal?

Loyal turned around facing his crazy brother and friend. Fire grinned at him.

Loyal: Both, I guess.
Wind: Phooey.
Fire: What do we win?

Loyal pointed at the broken chairs and tables. Wind sighed seeing the prize.

Loyal was already twenty-three, and Fire guessed he grew up pretty well. Tall, a bit on the thin side, his hair was still short because Faisceau insisted that he kept it that way.

Still powerful.

Fire: What's new?
Loyal: I was reading that there are other deities in different worlds.
Fire: I'd like to see that. Anything else?
Loyal: And how some deities that are born from humans.
Wind: Humans! How about that, Earth?

Earth felt the heat rushing to her cheeks hearing Wind talk to her. Cloud rolled her eyes at Wind.

Cloud: Get to work and enough of this nonsense.
Wind: What do you say, Cloudy?
Cloud: It's absurd! No human can give birth to a deity.
Wind: I think it's true.
Earth: So do I!!

Cloud glared at the chess board hearing Earth agreeing with Wind. Loyal started to reach for his book, but Fire beat him to it.

Fire: This is the book, yes?
Loyal: Yes. I'm not sure if it's baloney or the truth.
Fire: It's bull-

Loyal frowned at Fire.

Fire: Bulloney. Hon, hon.
Cloud: Oh, God.

Wind and Fire cracked up laughing at Fire's stupid joke. Loyal smiled at them and went back to his book.

Were there other deities?
