Note: this is just a theory.

If you were about to say "You're wrong! My customer had 5 stars once!" then I'd like to emphasize the fact that the title says, 'at the end of KCP'. So hear me out.

Recently we've always been hearing people saying, "Could you please help my customer regain his/her 5th star? I was so sad when he/she lost it..." However, I'd like to state that regaining the 5th star is impossible. I mean, show me 5 people who has had a customer regain their 5th star.

Okay, I know it sounds like all I have is the lack of 5th-star-earn-back-customer-stories, but the truth is, I do have more information to prove my point. That is, the connection between the star rating you see your customer have and the placing they are ranked by voters.

I've always been wondering how the two are connected. But when you think about it, you can see how it works. Let's assume that a 1st place vote gives you 5 stars, 2nd place with 3, and 3rd place with 1. Now then, if we look at a customer's stars (just saying, this is my customer Asha's)...

...we'll notice that it's the average. So unless your customer always had 1st place votes, you can't get 5 stars, because they'd average out if a single 2nd place vote is thrown in. This is the reason most customers have 5 stars early in the contest; there aren't many votes to average out from. Also, it explains why hardly anyone has 1 or 0 stars.

So what this means is, if your customer has 4 stars, great job! That's the best it can do!

Any rebuttals, or contradicting evidence you'd like to present to object to my theory? Feel free to start a debate here! Also, to keep this topic up for KCP, I'll vote for any KCP link posted here!

Wow.  Shocked This is the best theory I've read. I hope it's not true for us creators' sake, but I don't have any arguments that could go against yours.

My theory is that 5 stars are for the best 32 customers
But its probably mostly girls
So if your girl has 5 she coule wtill not be in
But if your boy has 4 he might still be in

Actually, upon closer inspection, there is a very small chance that someone could regain their fifth star.
Suppose 25,920 people entered the contest like Tony said. If each of them submitted three customers, that's about 75,000 customers. (Note: it doesn't matter how many people entered the contest for this counter-argument to work, I'm just giving an example.)
If even 74,969 customers got down to four stars, that would mean only 31 customers would have five stars. Since there has to be 32 customers for the tournament to work, if only 31 customers have five stars, someone else would have to get the fifth star, regardless of whether or not anyone voted against them. So if that 32nd customer with 5 stars is Bob, and Bob goes down to 4 stars, then someone else that has four stars but more votes than Bob would have to take his place. Therefore, if the customer that replaces Bob is named Mike, then Mike wouldn't need a perfect score to get in the top 32.
That's assuming that 5 stars = top 32 tho.
Sorry about the bulky reply, and I probably did something wrong, but thanks for reading.

This seems legit but I don't think the stars determine the top 32
I think Matt and Tony look at the ones with the highest ratings and then choose the top 32 and not by whoever got the most 1st places since places depend on many factors. For example, you have 3 bad choices, you have to pick one of them as 1st place. The result: A troll entry getting a 5 star rating
So, the top 32 are usually among the top rated but not all top rated entries get in.  Hooray
Also, one of my entries is at 4 stars yay. She's my least favourite entry out of the 3 but oh well

This explains why you happen to see customers over and over A LOT if you keep voting, just because there's so little to see from compared to last year.

25920 is still a lot in my book as I rush and rush around to vote for every possible 3 of the combos Laugh

Well yeah, I guess that the toppest ones get in only if they're clean cut (aka no clones of existing customers, their knockoffs/relatives (but I like Josephine(?) the Jojo 'wife'), no customers whose names aren't proper (random letters and "My Customer" variations and descriptions like "poor customer" or "the best costumer") + those that Matt and Tony favour out of the favourites as well. And not only does it happen at early stages, but one of these things struck me in the middle of the voting week! Laugh

Though not sure if I'll make it. I really hope to but I'm still not sure... Grin

Unfortunately, it dropped down back to 4... and this theory shows that it mostly happens at early stages (day 1-2 ish), while for me it occured in the middle of the voting week. Oh well, I had fun with the 'bragging that I have 5 stars' Laugh (Maybe that will happen again but I'm not so sure. Other than that, keep voting, guys. Wink)

Hmm, that's a good theory. But I actually think the top 32 aren't the have 5 stars, just Matt and Tony's selection of the best 4 star characters (the hidden decimal, like 4.76).

However, there are some people we may able to contact on the forum to confirm whether or not top 32 have 5 stars, and that's Lyka (one of his customers got in) and Witch Cherry (her sister's customer got in). Maybe we could ask them? Well, I hope they see this post.

And now Martha just reached 5 stars lately, and she's just struggling, I believe.

To add, people will have a nerve to place them first to third. But...

FIRST = 3 POINTS
SECOND = 2 POINTS
THIRD = 1 POINT

Then calculate them. For example, Adriel has 39 Firsts, 11 Seconds, and 9 Thirds...
39 + 11 + 9 = 59 | (39 x 3) + (11 x 2) + (9 x 1) = 148
148/59 = 2.5084745762... which was his usual score.

Here's the case scenario.

2.75 - 3.00 = ★5 [12.5%]
2.25 - 2.74 = ★4 [25%]
1.75 - 2.24 = ★3 [25%]
1.25 - 1.74 = ★2 [25%]
1.00 - 1.24 = ★1 [12.5%]

This means Adriel has 4 stars overall.

There is like 12.5% chance of having 5 stars overall, yet it can be almost impossible because it depends on people trusting your back (includes people in real life), and/or it depends on one's skill level.
