I've been wanting to make a topic like this for a while, but haven't got around to it. With the deletion of the main Music topic, and Matt's wonderful insight into the world of post deletion, I finally have the perfect time to make my reviewing come to life!

I'm assuming this won't get merged because other forumers are doing/have done similar things already and they haven't got merged.

Note that I am no longer taking requests for singles, EPs or albums, as I am focusing more on myself at the moment.

These are the top 20 songs here in New Zealand (which is where I live by the way) ranked from worst to best. Note that this is all my opinion and you will disagree with at least one of these. That's how opinions work.

The ranking is self explanatory.

20. hot girl bummer by blackbear
bloop tier (0/5)
18. Follow God by Kanye West
19. Catching Feelings by Drax Project and Six60
Bad tier (1/5)

16. Please Don't Go by Six60
15. Circles by Post Malone
14. ROXANNE by Arizona Zervas
Meh tier (2/5)
13. HIGHEST IN THE ROOM by Travis Scott
12. Ride It by Regard
11. 10000 Hours by Dan+Shay
10. Someone You Loved by Lewis Capaldi
9. The Greatest by Six60
Decent tier (3/5)
8. Lose You To Love Me by Selena Gomez
7. Lights Up by Harry Styles
6. South of the Border by Ed Sheeran, Camila Cabello and Cardi B
Good tier (4/5)
5. Beautiful People by Ed Sheeran and Khalid
4. Good As Hell by Lizzo
Great tier (5/5)

These are all the album and EP reviews I've done recently.

Dua Lipa by Dua Lipa
Overall great record, definitely recommended for anyone wanting some nice upbeat pop in their life
Power ranking:
Be The One
New Rules
Hotter than Hell
Blow Your Mind
Lost In Your Light (ft. Miguel)
Thinking Bout You

Genesis
IDGAF

No Goodbyes
Homesick
Begging

Garden
8/10

Voicenotes by Charlie Puth
Huge improvement from his 2016 work, I'm interested to see where Charlie goes from here
Best: Done For Me (ft. Kehlani), Slow It Down, Change (ft. James Taylor), Somebody Told Me
Worst: LA Girls, Patient
6/10

Invasion of Privacy by Cardi B
Obviously someone like me shouldn't be reviewing this kind of album, but I've heard rap done far better before and frankly, I expect more from someone who I have heard rap some great verses in the past. Still recommended for fans of the genre though
Power ranking:
I Like It (ft. Bad Bunny and J Balvin)
Be Careful
Best Life (ft. Chance the Rapper)
Get Up 10
Money Bag

Bickenhead
Thru Your Phone
Drip (ft. Migos)

Bodak Yellow
Ring (ft. Kehlani)
She Bad (ft. YG)
Bartier Cardi (ft. 21 Savage)

I Do (ft. SZA)
3/10

Speak Your Mind by Anne Marie
Very disappointing and I'm honestly surprised that Anne Marie could release such a strange record
Best: Ciao Adios, Heavy
Worst: Alarm, Bad Girlfriend
4/10

Famous (EP) by Mason Ramsey
Honestly a waste of talent, Mason Ramsey showed so much promise in his Walmart performances and does have some okay songs here, but this kid is only 11, why are all three of the original songs on this album about seducing a woman?
Best: Lovesick Blues, Famous
Worst: Yo Da Lady Who
5/10

Sweetener by Ariana Grande
Extremely different to what I was expecting from Ariana, it was an interesting listening but left me overall underwhelmed. The fact that the best song on the album isn't even better than some of her older singles, that's certainly worth noting
Power ranking:
breathin
no tears left to cry
the light is coming (ft. nicki minaj)
goodnight n go

get well soon
blazed (ft. pharrell)
successful
borderline (ft. missy elliot)

everytime
God is a woman
pete davidson

sweetener
better off
R.E.M
5/10

Dirty Computer by Janelle Monae
I'm extremely late to the party on this one, but wow, I can't believe how much I've slept on Janelle, I think I may have found myself another favourite artist
There's literally no bad songs on this
Power ranking:
I Like That
Americans
PYNK (ft. Grimes)
Screwed (ft. Zoe Kravitz)
Make Me Feel
Django Jane
So Afraid
Take A Byte
Crazy, Classic Life

Don't Judge Me
Dirty Computer (ft. Brian Wilson)

I Got The Juice (ft. Pharrell)
9/10

Oceania by Oceania
I was relistening to this album since I haven't properly listened to for years, and it's not bad at all for an album entirely in foreign language, some songs drag on for a bit, particularly towards the end, but there are some great standout tracks too
Best: Pukaea, Kotahitanga (both versions), Hineraukatauri, He Tangata, Kihikihi
Worst: Haere Ra, Tino Rangatiratanga
7/10

DUMMY BOY by 6ix9ine
About as bad as I thought it would be, most of these tracks are awful and the ones that weren't were either saved by the production or a featuring artist
"Best": BEBE (ft. Anuel AA), KANGA (ft. Kanye West)
Worst: FEFE (ft. Nicki Minaj), KIKA (ft. Tory Lanez), MAMA (ft. Nicki Minaj and Kanye West), FEEFA (ft. Gunna), TATI (ft. DJ SpinKing), WONDO
2/10

thank u next by Ariana Grande
I had very low expectations coming into this, but I was pleasantly surprised by the majority of this album. The single choices are still awful, and prevent it from being a great album
Best: bloodline, bad idea, NASA, fake smile
Worst: 7 rings, thank u next
7/10

Divide by Ed Sheeran
I listened to this one in full a while back, but never got around to writing up anything on it. It was about what I was expecting, not at all bad but not amazing outside of a few highlights
Best: Castle On The Hill, Perfect, Supermarket Flowers, Bibia Be Ye Ye
Worst: Shape Of You, What Do I Know
6/10

When we all fall asleep, where do we go? by Billie Eilish
Pretty much what I expected, the more upbeat ones are pretty solid, and the slower ones are kind of underwhelming, even the better songs aren't great, and I believe Billie is overrated at this stage
Best: bad guy, you should see me in a crown, all the good girls go to hell, bury a friend
Worst: 8, ilomilo
5/10

No 6 Collaborations Project by Ed Sheeran
Undoubtedly Ed Sheeran's dream album, though with all the collaborators the record ends up being all filler and no killer, there's less duds here than on Divide, but nothing here comes close to Ed's greatest
Best: Antisocial (ft. Travis Scott), BLOW (ft. Chris Stapleton and Bruno Mars), Beautiful People (ft. Khalid)
Worst: I Don't Care (ft. Justin Bieber), Feels (ft. Young Thug and J Hus)
6/10

Lover by Taylor Swift
A few standout tracks which save the project, but there are also duds here that could have definitely been cut from the final release
It's better than Reputation, that's all I'm saying
Power ranking:
Paper Rings
Lover
Soon You'll Get Better
Daylight

I Forgot You Existed
Death By A Thousand Cuts
The Archer

You Need To Calm Down
The Man
False God

Afterglow
Cornelia Street
Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince

I Think He Knows
London Boy
Cruel Summer

It's Nice To Have A Friend
ME!
7/10

Waiata (Anthems) by various artists
To celebrate Maori Language week, a wide selection of New Zealand artists re-recorded their biggest hits in the language. Unfortunately I didn't like this for the most part, as the producers clearly blew their budget on one or two songs (both of which were completely butchered), and the rest were just bad retreads of their English originals
Best: Kei Toku Ngakau Nei Koe (Always On My Mind), Potere Ana (Drift Away)
Worst: I Moeroa (Woke Up Late), Haere Mai Ra (Sway), Kia Mau Ki To Ukaipo (Don't Forget Your Roots) (though mainly for that out-of-sync haka bridge)
4/10

Drax Project by Drax Project
Okay, you all know I don't like this band, but wow even the singles couldn't have prepared me for this abomination
Best: Woke Up Late (ft. Hailee Steinfeld) (if I have to pick one)
Worst: Prefer, Smart Love, Relax, Brain, Holiday, Toto, All This Time, Catching Feelings (ft. Six60)
1/10

The Kids Are Coming (EP) by Tones And I
Tones And I is without a doubt the next big thing, and I'm still not quite won over by her voice, but god damn this woman's storytelling is excellent when she tries
Best: The Kids Are Coming, Dance Monkey, Jimmy
Worst: Colourblind
8/10

Cuz I Love You by Lizzo
Admittedly, it's not quite the album I wanted from someone as talented as Lizzo, but I can still get behind this
Best: Cuz I Love You, Juice, Jerome, Heaven Help Me, Lingerie
Worst: Better In Colour
7/10

This is my first original album, Headmaster! https://soundcloud.com/user-117531920/sets/headmaster
Click on each song for a bit of backstory of how the idea for the song came about. Note that each song is instrumental because I can't sing.

Headmaster was released by surprise on July 25 2018.

Scratch is a remastered version, if you search long enough you might come across the decidedly worse original. Don't listen to it.
Song Of The Oofis was released on August 11 as the first single. Listen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTCUyZ_0_iM
Before was released on September 24 as the second single. Listen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8YZiDGDnPc

Potential lyrics to Tone:
This is a diss track mainly aimed towards board mod Penguin022, Headmaster hater Phil Swift and main rival Louis. I also take shots at global mod AskJoe, board mod Moana and proud Louis fan Lajoie.

Tone

Yo, ayy, ayy, brr
Ayy, ayy, yah, skrrt skrrt
Oofis on the beat
Yeah!
Ayy, ayy, GRRRRRRRRAAHHHHH!

You're both wrong, let me tell you why
Look up to the sky (get it!) way up high
That's I, say hi, watch me fly on by
And you know it don't matter how hard you try
You ain't on my level, can't match me
I'm rolling at 100, you minus 20 degrees (brr!)
Gotta pay for yours, get mine for free
Yeah it's Big Bad Oofis, bow to me
I'm not even a mod but I flow like a god
A non mod god, now ain't that odd?
You like 'God don't exist'? Well you been proved wrong (Joe!)
Now twist that wrist and get down to my song
You know all you bleeps got no tone
I see you wimps bragging on yo phones
If only you'd known you don't own no throne
Y'all forumers won't admit you been overthrown (say what?)
Don't moan, I've shown you how to flow
You scared, flown away, two birds one stone (K!)
Blown the whole board down (yeah I did!)
It's Big Bad Oofis, bow -

Flipfan Oofis, Flipfan Oofis,
You don't wanna know, Flipfan Oofis
Flipfan Oofis, Flipfan Oofis,
You know who it is, Kiwi boy Oofis

Hahaha, these bleeps got no idea what they in for
HM yo, Boom boom, yo, agh, GRRRRRRRRAAHHHHH!

If you call me out for me, I'm gonna call you too (yah!)
You say your name Swift but you don't got a clue
What that mean, ain't none of y'all swift as Oof
And if you wanna be, better get a life, you doof (bleepin' demon!)
"Give the guy an L"? Oh come on dude
You know you'd rather take an L than take away food (ice!)
Or water, but that's not the point, you still lack tone
And anything a bleep need to make it alone
You think I'm an animal? Same to you
My flow steal the show, can't deny that true (it's true!)
You lockin' them doors bro, the bleep do you think?
I'm in and out quicker than a penguin can blink
eXuSE mE but 'excuse' is spelled with a C
And it's Louie with an E, are you kidding me? (Lou!)
You been waiting for a rap with some quality?
Yeah it's Big Bad Oofis, bow-

Flipfan Oofis, Flipfan Oofis,
You don't wanna know, Flipfan Oofis
Flipfan Oofis, Flipfan Oofis,
You know who it is, Kiwi boy Oofis
Flipfan Oofis, Flipfan Oofis,
You don't wanna know, Flipfan Oofis
Flipfan Oofis, Flipfan Oofis,
You know who it is, Big Bad Oofis (Big Bad!)

Breaking it down for y'all
Don't think you're getting away with it all either Miss Kyle
I saw you talk bloop about Frigisit too

Flipfan Oofis, Flipfan Oofis,
You don't wanna know, Flipfan Oofis
Flipfan Oofis, Flipfan Oofis,
You know who it is, Big Bad Oofis

HM yo, album of the year
And you have the nerve to give it a 6?
Well get back to me when you come out with something that's a 10
Okay? You tell me
Yah
Lyrics to Before:
As written and performed by lipnitskaia (Lajoie).

Before

Hey there, I was just thinking
We maybe could start it all over
I can't help thinking about you
It's hard to put this into words
Wish it was like before

Fear overwhelms me when you asked me on that first date
I'm 16 and I'm scared and I accept it, say I won't be late
We hit it off, it's quite alright, it's good for weeks without no fights
Then you get mad at me and your words have a lot of bite
I don't know what I did, I do everything to please you
But anger is all that comes through
I don't know how to fix it

Hey there, I was just thinking
We maybe could start it all over
I can't help thinking about you
It's hard to put this into words
Wish it was like before

Racking my brain for everything I might have done wrong
You're cold and empty, never respond
I read through texts on my own, all alone
When I call, you hang up the phone
Hey, why did you hang up the phone?
Maybe I'm over dramatizing
I really do care but I can't go back and tell you
Because I hurt you
And I'm scared of...

Hey there, I was just thinking
We maybe could start it all over
I can't help thinking about you
It's hard to put this into words
Wish it was like before
Hey there, I was just thinking
We maybe could start it all over
I can't help thinking about you
It's hard to put this into words
Wish it was like before

Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
I wish it was like before
I wish it like before
Wish it was like before

Wish it was like before

My second album, Cyana, was first announced on November 6. This release was planned to be a concept album telling the tragic story of Cyana, goddess of a crumbling world. Be Like Her was released on November 26 as the lead single.

After a string of technical difficulties rendered Cyana unreleasable, I moved on and released the single Giani on February 25 2019. Its parent album was first announced on April 14 and given the title of Winkles on May 9.

Evie was released as a promotional track on April 26, to coincide with a large number of other artist's releases.

The official second release, Winkles, was released on July 20, just before the anniversary of Headmaster. This album focused on having less songs with a longer length.

Review Gorillaz - Humility
Well, right off the bat, there is quite a bit to like in this song, the instrumentation is laid back and has a nice vibe, and I can see it being a summer song for Northern hemisphere people. I'm not at all sold on the choice of vocal effects, but from what I've heard it's pretty typical of Gorillaz and is nothing special. Overall it's a strong 3/5, could have been better but could have been far worse.

It is not a song with vocals but I am curious!
I'm generally not a huge fan of songs with no context outside games/soundtracks etc, so I can't comment too much on this the same way as I would mainstream songs. By OST standards though, I'd probably give this a light 3/5, it's long enough that it doesn't repeat itself as most video game themes do, but it does sacrifice the catchiness required to create a great theme by doing this.
Review IceJJFish - On The Floor

This is not a joke I just really want to know your opinion on this awful song
To keep this as short as possible, when it comes to songs like this, there's a very thin line between having a fun self aware artist who can give the listeners a good laugh, and being a downright obnoxious and unlistenable track. The obvious comparison to make in this instance would be Miranda Sings, who can easily pull off this style, whereas this guy ends up on the wrong side of said line and creates this monstrosity. Strong -1/5 and if anything this just makes me want to listen to more Miranda songs, bleep this song.

I pray I won't go on for too long, but I'll start with Forever Young since I have less to say about it. It's an okay song with a nice groove which does fizzle out several times, but for the most part it stays together surprisingly well. Blackpink as performers are nothing special, though they do hold their own for the entirety of the song. Overall I'll give this a nice strong 2/5, I wouldn't come back to it but I don't dislike it at all.

Ddu-Du Ddu-Du is a bit more worth talking about. First off, for any song to rack up 70 million views in less 5 days, that's a great achievement, I have to respect that. However, this is about where the praise ends for me unfortunately. The constant whistling and trap drums are particularly grating, and when you combine that with the girls' lazy vocals and the fact that the chorus builds up to 'hit you with that ddu-du ddu-du' and that stupid whistling that just will not shut up, it's hard to not think of this as the female version of BTS' Mic Drop, which was a bloody horrible song in and of itself. Also, I refuse to believe that the girl who does the second verse isn't Nicki Minaj, her voice sounds so similar. I would give this a big fat 0/5, but I'm giving this a 5/5 because it's Kpop and I have to give every Kpop song a 5 if I don't want triggered Kpop fans coming for me

To be honest, I kinda agree with that. Ddu-du Ddu-du took me a few listens to actually get into it unlike their previous releases which I liked more. Thank you for your review!!
