Petition: Change the Post Count System

I propose Matt and Tony change the post system so that posts in Community Q&A, Fan Tournaments, Fan Characters, Roleplaying, Other Games, Forum Discussion, and Off Topic be counted towards the post count. The post count is meant to be a measure of dedication and activity and posts in the boards listed contribute to the wellbeing and activity of the forum. If this requires reconfiguring the rank system to make higher ranks harder to achieve, then so be it.

Explanation:
The post count system was changed to only include certain Flipline-related boards in order to prevent hyperposting to gain post counts. However, in the age of the forum right now, that would never be a problem.

I have 266 posts according to my profile, but counting all of my posts, I have 1,541.

I rarely have a need to post on Flipline related boards, which means my post count never goes up. This reflects negatively on how active I am. I think this is true with a lot of people. It makes me seem much less active than I am because my post count never goes up. The only real Flipline news to talk about is the To Go! games recently, and I don't have a phone to play those on.

Posting in Off-topic and Forum Discussion contributes to the community just as much as Flipline related posts. We should make those posts count.

I agree. Artificially making your rank go up (through hyperposting or otherwise) is very much frowned upon anyway, and having a higher rank is largely meaningless if it's gained through cheating, so why exclude certain boards from the ranking system?

Brother E: Yes, maybe you guys are right. Originally, those posts did count. But recently, Matt and Tony changed that, probably due to people hyper-posting.

Changing the rank system would make higher ranks more easily reachable and, quite frankly, more useful. Right now, the highest ranks are almost like a title of nobility, incredibly hard to get, and not useful for representing how much commitment people have shown to the forum.

I think the system should start counting posts in every board, and that could also include changing everyone's number of posts to the number shown in their Profile under "Show Posts"

This makes no sense. Two different numbers.

When you post in a topic in a board which counts posts, and the topic is moved to a board which doesn't count posts prior to deletion it won't subtract from your post count. This is why you have a higher post count than your number of posts.

and only 2 of them are counted
so yeah, let's bring the couting back

I don't follow enough with the forum to know if hyperposting is still a problem, but if it is, I think this would actually be a great solution. If you could hyperpost in forum games and it count, it might stop people from hyperposting in other boards where it actually matters. If anything, making certain boards not count for posts has probably inflated hyperposting in the boards where it does count, where we don't want hyperposting...

The suggestions board is mostly for games related suggestions, but it can indeed go there, except less people will see it.
