I don't think Papa Louie needs an introduction. He is a mega celebrity and a true household name. It is estimated that almost half of the population has worked in one of his many establishments at some point, usually as their first job, and almost everyone has ordered many meals. The restaurant business was booming, with new locations opening up frequently. It was very surprising when Papa announced a new plan.

Around twenty-five years ago, back when Papa was still in culinary school, championship tourneys were the "hip" thing in the Flipverse. Everyday people would go in and become fighters with extreme strength and skill. They would fight in an arena in front of thousands, and the top level events would be the most watched televised events of all time. It was huge. However, it simply wasn't sustainable. The best players kept falling in accidents, and the safety of the sport was called into question. Eventually, fighters were dying faster than they were being created, and the sport was shut down. This decision was very unpopular, and many people opened up bootleg organizations. They lacked funding, so they never lasted very long. They also were even less safe, so not very many athletes were attracted to it. By now, most people had forgotten about this period in time, but some were still ready.

Papa Louie had mailed out letters to each of his restaurants to be displayed at the front window. The letters read "Customer Championship Tournament: Let's bring back the arenas!" and had contact information below. Thousands of people visit the restaurants each day, and a lot of them applied to be in this revival tournament. Papa would choose 16 everyday people, and they would don their fighter suits and battle for the title of champion.

Who will win the revived tournament? You're about to find out.

After a few weeks of Papa reviewing the applications, he chose the 16 fighters he was most sure would put on a good show.
Fighters:
Amy
Big Pauly
Cameo
Cooper
Elle
Fernanda
Foodini
Hope
Kayla
Kingsley
Nye
Prudence
Rita
Steven
Tohru
Yui
He also seeded them based off of how he perceived their skill. This tournament would be interesting. With 16 new fighters, no one knew what to expect. How would this group fight? This tournament would receive the highest viewing numbers in twenty-five years, all eyes were on them. This was a do or die situation for everyone.

This match pits Steven (seed 1) against Rita (seed 16).
Steven's Introduction:
Steven enters the tournament with an air of mystery. Who is this man and where did he come from? We don't know his job or his family, he came out of seemingly nowhere. However he got here, he's the number one seed. Out of the thousands of fighters, Papa is most confident in Steven's ability.

He prefers to fight in a close combat style. He's got good stamina so he's not as concerned with avoiding hits, he knows if he can get two or three good hits in the opponent is down. Interestingly, he has chosen to not bring in a weapon. His suit will instead boost his natural speed and strength. If he's the strongest fighter, this should be good.

Rita's Introduction:
Rita is a burger chef and a movie nerd, and she took some inspiration when designing her moveset. She brings in a comically large burger flipper to use as a weapon, but it's not just a hunk of steel. She claims it has some sort of hidden ability, but she refuses to give any details. Maybe she'll show Steven what she can do?

As the lowest seed here, it's easy to just look at Rita and think "Oh, she must not be very strong." Remember that she's just the least strong of these 16 fighters, and anything can happen in the arena. Rita is here to prove that she was just having a bad day when she received the lowest seed.

Steven walked into the arena. His suit is just a fancier version of his normal outfit. His jacket is longer, he's now wearing gloves, and his boots appear to have more grip than before.

Rita walked into the arena. Her suit has lots of reds and blues, topped off by her pair of retro 3D glasses. She is carrying a shiny new and incredibly large burger flipper. A closer look would reveal a number of buttons on the handle.

Announcer: This fight will go until one of the fighters is either knocked unconscious or gives up. Fighters are not allowed to leave the dome until the match is up. Aside from that, there are no restrictions. Do whatever you need to do to ensure you come out on top. Fighters ready? Go!

Steven immediately ran as fast as he could towards Rita. Rita raised her weapon in an attempt to hit him away but Steven jumped over her swing and landed a kick to her head. Rita stumbled back but did not fall over. She swung again but Steven ducked down and kicked at her legs. This time Rita did fall over, but she managed to not drop her weapon.

Steven twisted on his bracelets and his gloves began to glow slightly. He ran towards Rita and punched her right as she tried to get up. Rita had not managed to get a single hit in so far, which based on the seeding isn't very surprising. Steven kept getting hits in and it began to look like the first match of the revived championship tournament would be a huge blowout.

Suddenly, Rita disappeared. Steven's next punch went straight into the ground. He shook his fist a bit to alleviate the pain as he got up and searched the arena for his opponent. Invisibility was an uncommon yet still present tool used by fighters to gain the upper hand, so Steven tried to prepare himself.

Rita reappeared in the air and had a sudden boost forward. Steven was knocked back a considerable distance by Rita's attack. Seemingly unphased, he got up and began to charge at Rita as he had at the start of the match. Rita landed from the air and prepared to swing at Steven, just like she had at the beginning. This time, she didn't miss.

Steven was launched across the arena as if he were a baseball. He bounced off of the wall and landed on the floor. Rita's flipper was starting to turn red. It appeared that every time she hit her opponent with it it got hotter. She ran forward faster than before and disappeared again. Less than a second later she was right next to Steven, and she used his momentary confusion to land a nice blow.

Rita made herself a difficult target, and Steven found himself unable to land a blow in. She now had momentum. She was running around, becoming more powerful with each hit. Any time Steven finally cornered her, she disappeared and came back for a sneak attack. Eventually, she went missing for over thirty seconds. Steven tried to remain focused, but as he began to turn around Rita appeared right under him and hit him with the burning hot metal. He fell down, and this time he did not get up. Rita was the winner!

Rita has moved onto round 2, where she will face one of Nye or Tohru.

Rita has mastered use of the negative zone! This allowed her to disappear and travel through a totally separate dimension. This is why she was allowed into the tournament. Steven was a worthy fighter, but near the end it seemed like he was about to give up. Rita kept going, which is why she won. A big reason she was able to win was because she had the element of surprise. Does Rita have more up her sleeve, or will she have an uphill battle to continue in the tournament?

This match pits Tohru (seed 8) against Nye (seed 9).

Tohru's Introduction:
Tohru is a fairly influential social media user with a large following on her YouTube channel. She brings her unique charm into the arena with a pink suit she designed herself. It has lasers, and it seems that she has the ability to fly. She is also extremely fast while wearing the suit. How far will she get with her video game inspired moves?

Nye's Introduction:
Nye is a total question mark. At least with Steven some footage of him fighting in a much smaller league surfaced during the wait, but with Nye there's nothing. Witnesses believe they saw him wearing a warp key as a necklace, but warp keys are so hard to come by it's assumed that this is a replica.

Tohru flew into the arena and landed gracefully as she had done hundreds of times before. She flashed a smile at the audience. Tohru knew how to appeal to the crowd, even though she couldn't see them.

Nye walked into the arena. Compared to Tohru his entrance was not very flashy. He stood silently, staring at Tohru and waiting for the match to begin. He fighting suit is seemingly identical to the clothing he wears every day.

Announcer: This fight will go until one of the fighters is either knocked unconscious or gives up. Fighters are not allowed to leave the dome until the match is up. Aside from that, there are no restrictions. Do whatever you need to do to ensure you come out on top. Fighters ready? Go!

Tohru and Nye both stayed still at first. Neither of them were very proactive fighters it seemed. Eventually, Tohru flew up and fired a laser at Nye. She hit him right in the chest with shocking accuracy, and Nye stumbled back. Tohru kept flying around and firing lasers at Nye, and most of them were at least close. Nye ran around, ducking, but he wasn't attempting to attack.

Eventually, Nye stopped running. He put a hand in his pocket, and took out a warp key. He palmed it in his hand, said something under his breath, and raised his hand into the air. Tohru was suddenly thrown into the wall of the arena. She fell down to the ground, wondering what had happened.

A cloud of pink, purple, and blue energy began to coat Nye as he slowly floated off the ground. Tohru saw this and raised into the air as well. Nye was not moving very gracefully, but he had the warp key and Tohru knew she had to disarm him.

She lunged forward at Nye's hand and tried to grab the token. Nye pulled his hand back and sent Tohru to the other side of the arena. Tohru kept blasting lasers at Nye, but he used the key to reroute them. Around a tenth of the lasers were successfully deflected away, but most of them hit Nye straight on.

Nye put the warp key around his neck and raised his hands. The energy surrounding him started to flow to the palms of his hands as he pointed them at Tohru. After he had a formed a considerable ball of energy, he fired it. Tohru managed to barely miss it and it crashed into the wall.

Tohru flew  towards Nye as fast as she could. Nye was distracted by the sudden movement and the energy he was charging dissipated. He fumbled for the warp key, but Tohru was too quick. She knocked Nye down, and he almost hit the ground. When Nye was around an inch from the ground, he regained his ability of flight and began to rise again.

Tohru zoomed around the arena firing lasers at Nye. Nye was almost down, but he seemingly had one trick left. He raised his left arm in an exaggerated manner, and energy began pooling around his closed fist. Tohru shot beams in many configurations in an attempt to distract but Nye was determined this time. Eventually, the energy grew to the point where it was forming a fist shape around Nye's arm.

He swung his fist in Tohru's direction. Tohru tried to sprint out of the way, but Nye accounted for this in his aim. Tohru was hit dead on, and she fell to the ground as if she were an insect. She did not get back up. Nye was the winner!

Nye has moved onto Round 2 where he will face Rita.

Tohru is a consistently strong fighter. She remained unpredictable, with lasers coming at varied speeds, angles, sizes, and groupings. She flew around making herself a difficult target, and she showed ridiculous speeds. Nye tried to fight back at first using the warp key, but his powers were limited there. If Nye had made Tohru leave the arena he would have been disqualified, so he was stuck with throwing her into walls and rerouting lasers. Nye seemingly hasn't gotten the hang of his powerful weapon quite yet, so he decided to put it away and shift strategies. He used the energy coming from an unknown source to grow a fist and smack Tohru out of the air. It wasn't the initial blow that did her in, it was the impact with the ground. Nye's knowledge of Tohru's flight speeds was good enough to win him the match. Let's see how his analytical battle style fares against Rita and her use of the negative zone.

This match pits Hope (seed 5) against Yui (seed 12).

Hope's Introduction:
Hope is a fashion designer and magazine article author. She originally entered the tournament as an excuse to design a suit, but her number 5 seeding shows that she's a decent fighter as well. Her mysterious blue aura attacks can be devastating, and she seems to have some sort of foresight while in the arena. Hope hopes she can succeed!

Yui's Introduction:
Yui is an accomplished hunter who is coming to the city to show off her skill. She is a sharpshooter with a crossbow, so it's no surprise that's what she's bringing in. She's also got excellent endurance, so it will be difficult to simply outlast her. She usually relies on some level of stealth, but in the bare arena how will she manage to blend in?

Hope entered the arena. She had on an extravagant blue, black, and white suit complete with tall boots. She immediately took a classic fighting stance as she waited for her opponent.

Yui walked into the arena. She had a crossbow and a quiver of arrows attached to her back, and her eyes were already darting around. She was surveying the area, determining how large it is and what strategies she can use.

Announcer: This fight will go until one of the fighters is either knocked unconscious or gives up. Fighters are not allowed to leave the dome until the match is up. Aside from that, there are no restrictions. Do whatever you need to do to ensure you come out on top. Fighters ready? Go!

Yui immediately took the crossbow and fired an arrow. The time this took her, from retrieving the arrow, loading it, aiming, and firing was less than a second and she still managed to hit Hope square on. Hope ducked down after an arrow shot at her.

Hope was attempting to predict where Yui's arrows would land, and for a while she was doing a good job at dodging them. Yui realized what was going on and began to act erratically, changing up the rhythm and accounting for Hope's adjustments in her aim. She appeared to have an unlimited amount of arrows to fire.

Hope began to move her hands around each other quite quickly, and a small forcefield began to start. Yui's arrows clattered to the ground harmlessly when they collided with the aura. Hope then clapped and the forcefield disappeared with a small sonic boom. The arrow Yui had fired disintegrated in the air, and Yui was knocked back a bit by the blast.

Hope then began to rise in the air like Nye did. While she was focusing on floating, Yui dusted herself off and fired some more arrows. Hope was distracted by her flying and didn't create a forcefield or dodge the projectiles. She suddenly lost her balance and fell into the ground face first. She laid there, not getting up. It looked like Yui had won.

Hope got up with incredible speed and shot into the air almost like a bullet. Yui reflexively shot off an arrow at Hope but the forcefield was back. The boom devestated the arrows, and Yui put her crossbow away. It looked like she would have to fire another way.

Yui rubbed her hands together, and ran towards Hope. She jumped in the air using what appeared to be springs to give her more distance. She grabbed onto Hope's foot and pulled down hard, bringing Hope on top of her and slamming both women into the ground. Hope immediately freed herself from Yui's grasp and began to rise, but slowly this time.

After Hope had reached around ten feet in height, she placed her arms in front of her. Yui rolled out of the way and fired another arrow, and the surprise knocked Hope in the back of the head. Whatever attack she was charging, it was over. Hope turned around and placed her arms up again. Aura coursed through her body and collected at her hands, similarly to Nye's devastating attack against Tohru.

Hope fired a beam of aura. Yui was able to jump out of the way at first, but Hope simply kept moving the beam until it connected. Yui was hit back, but she wasn't out. Yui tried some more arrows, but Hope destroyed them with smaller blasts. She was fully charged now, and it would take another successful hit to get her out of her momentum.

Hope raised her arms again and narrowly avoided an arrow. She hit Yui with another beam, this time without having to adjust. Yui did not get back up. Hope was the winner!

Hope has moved onto Round 2 where she will face one of Cooper or Fernanda.

Yui is a very physically gifted fighter. Even when she decided to put her crossbow away, she managed to get a good hit in by bringing Hope down. Strangely, even though she had more success without her bow she went back to it after Hope got the upper hand again. Apparently she relies on it too much.

Hope's attacks were strangely similar to Nye's. Their flight patterns were almost identical, and their methods of charging attacks were similar. Of course Nye has one instant blast while Hope's is more prolonged, but many viewers were slightly suspicious. Hope seemed to get stronger as time went on, but if she was hit by an attack she lost concentration and had to regain her power. To take her down a fighter would need to get a number of strong attacks in quick succession. We'll see if Hope's next opponent is up to that task.

This match pits Cooper (seed 4) against Fernanda (seed 13).

Cooper Introduction:
Cooper is a quiet young man who gets up every day bright and early at 5 AM to run the original Pancakeria. Most employees eventually move on, but Cooper hasn't. Don't think his inclusion in the tournament is favouritism, though. Cooper undergoes one of the most drastic changes in the tournament when he enters the arena. Cooper is a huge cat person, and it shows. If you're a fighter, watch out for his fangs and claws! There's a reason Cooper is seeded fourth.

Fernanda Introduction:
Fernanda is actually an old school fighter from twenty-five years ago. She was one of the younger fighters back then, but now she's on the older side. Her fighting style has evolved since the tournaments got shut down, but she's still recognizable as an OG fighter. Will she be able to regain the glory she once had, or is she simply a has-been?

Cooper walked into the arena. He had gloves on that gave him claws, and his orange suit made him resemble his cat. He had fangs too, but it's difficult to imagine him using them offensively. They're mostly there for show.

Fernanda walked in as well. She can fly like many previous fighters, but her flight is more manual. She brought a cloak that is presumably covering up some sort of flight system.

Announcer: This fight will go until one of the fighters is either knocked unconscious or gives up. Fighters are not allowed to leave the dome until the match is up. Aside from that, there are no restrictions. Do whatever you need to do to ensure you come out on top. Fighters ready? Go!

Cooper immediately turned around and used his claws to climb up the dome's walls. He continued up until he was hanging directly over top of Fernanda. While Cooper climbed, Fernanda rose up into the air. Under her cloak some sort of propulsion device gave her speed. Her cloak transformed into something resembling a pair of wings, giving her control.

Cooper let go of the ceiling and aimed for Fernanda. He connected, and slammed her into the side of the dome. Using one hand to slow their decent, Cooper repeatedly slammed Fernanda's body into the walls. When they reached the ground, he threw Fernanda onto the floor and prepared to pounce.

Fernanda rolled out of the way just as Cooper jumped, and swept her leg after Cooper landed. She then did a somersault and landed on Cooper, using him to start flying again. In the air, she swooped down and kicked Cooper again.

Fernanda was careful to remain in the centre of the arena where Cooper couldn't climb up and attack her. She took out a bag full of stones and began to throw them. Cooper was hit by a lot of the stones, but he was getting better at avoiding them. Eventually he made his way up to the top of the dome again and leaped at Fernanda. His claws skewered Fernanda's wings, and they both fell rapidly.

Fernanda waved her hand over the fabric, and it was repaired before they hit the ground. She kicked off of Cooper's falling body and rose in the air again. She threw more rocks, but in a deliberate pattern.

Cooper dodged the projectiles, but they weren't being aimed at him. Fernanda was pushing him into a corner. Eventually he was completely surrounded by the rocks. Fernanda kept throwing more and more around him, forming a sort of house.

The structure shook as Cooper tried to get his way out, but he was trapped. Fernanda flew over to the structure and removed one rock. A rockslide was caused, and Cooper was stuck. He was physically unable to move, and he did not get back up. Fernanda was the winner!

Fernanda has moved onto Round 2 where she will face Hope.

Traditionally, the cat (Cooper) beats the bird (Fernanda). However, because of Cooper's amazing climbing abilities Fernanda adapted her playstyle to avoid her reliance flying. Cooper ripped her wings, but she repaired them quickly. Fernanda will certainly have a difficult time fighting against the technologically advanced fighters of the new era, but she was able to outsmart Cooper in the quickest match yet. Was this a fluke, or has Fernanda managed to adapt to the new metagame?

This match pits Prudence (seed 3) against Amy (seed 14).

Prudence's Introduction:
Prudence is Cooper's close friend, co-worker at the Pancakeria, and training partner. The two of them have a very similar style, to the point where they could be called echo fighters. Prudence's moves come from her love of dogs, giving her a bit more speed than Cooper with slightly less deadly attacks. Cooper wasn't able to succeed, but Prudence is a higer seed. Will she win for both of them?

Amy's Introduction:
Amy is a powerful telekinetic in the arena, but a shy and quiet artist outside of it. The dissonance between her two personalities is difficult to comprehend at first, but only one of them matters during the match. No one really knows the true extent of Amy's power, except for presumably Papa Louie and herself. Is her number fourteen seeding a reflection of her max power, or is it simply based off of how much she felt like trying that day?

Prudence ran into the arena energetically. She immediately brought her claws up, ready to destroy her opponent.

Amy floated into the arena and dropped herself gracefully to the ground. She was usually a very peaceful person, but here she was a beast. She also raised her hands in a fighting stance, although she didn't need to.

Announcer: This fight will go until one of the fighters is either knocked unconscious or gives up. Fighters are not allowed to leave the dome until the match is up. Aside from that, there are no restrictions. Do whatever you need to do to ensure you come out on top. Fighters ready? Go!

Despite their apparent readiness to fight hard from the start, both Amy and Prudence stood still. They were waiting for the other one to make a move. Eventually, it was Prudence who moved first. She ran at Amy with her claws ready to swipe, but Amy simply moved her hands up and threw Prudence into a wall.

Prudence bounced off of the wall and used the momentum to swing back at Amy. Amy tried to deflect her, but the speed she had provided with her opening attack was too strong and Prudence hit Amy straight in the face. Amy was knocked back as Prudence kept clawing and scratching.

Amy pulled her arms and legs in, then threw them out. A small blast knocked Prudence away, but she managed to land on her feet. She ran at Amy yet again, jumped over her, grabbed Amy by an arm and slammed her into the wall of the dome. Amy had the wind knocked out of her, so she had trouble moving.

Prudence followed with a swift punch, determined to not let Amy get back up. Amy was nearing her end, so she knew she had to act fast. She floated into the air slowly, with a purple energy enveloping her.

Prudence immediately retreated, recognizing what was to come next. Amy swung her arms and two large fractals formed behind her. She moved her hands around, manipulating them as she did. They appeared to grow in size, but it was hard to tell for sure.

Amy was taking a while to do anything, so Prudence took the opportunity to strike again. She jumped up and kicked Amy in the gut, sending her back a bit. One of the fractals shattered in the impact, and pieces rained down. Some of them pierced Prudence, causing her to jump back reflexively.

Amy brought her hands forward, and the fractal still in the air split up into an uncountable number of small spears. She flung them all at Prudence, and most of them connected. Smaller circles surrounded her hands, and she placed them in front of her as she continued to fly through the air.

The spears continued to bombard Prudence, dealing heavier damage over time. Amy continued to charge her beam while throwing smaller attacks. Prudence wasn't able to avoid most of them.

Suddenly, Amy's hands stopped glowing. She fired a massive beam of energy straight at Prudence, knocking her down. She did not get back up. Amy was the winner!

Amy has moved onto Round 2 where she will face one of Foodini or Kayla.

Amy is a telekinetic, but that doesn't include the energy based powers she demonstrated in that fight. Prudence is one of the most skilled hand-to-hand fighters period, but Amy did her best to keep Prudence away. A lot of viewers expected Amy to fight by keeping Prudence away and manipulating some projectiles, but Amy didn't bring any in. She created energy and used that instead.

Amy's fighting style was nearly identical to Nye and Hope, although all 3 of them definitely have minor differences. Their flight patterns and the way they charge their attacks is almost the exact same. Nye's warp key tactics, Hope's premonitions, and Amy's telekinesis keep them separate, but they likely got their powers from the same source.

This strange energy pattern seems to synergize best with Amy, so her opponent in round 2 has their work cut out for them.

I have decided to add a poll to this topic. Vote for who you want to win in the Round 2 matches.

This match pits Foodini (seed 6) against Kayla (seed 11).

Foodini's Introduction:
Foodini is a world-famous announcer and game presenter. Many assumed that he would be the anonymous announcer in the arena, but clearly he isn't since he's out here. In battle, he's a true jack of all trades. Over the years he has learned many unique and interesting moves, so no one is quite sure what direction he'll take this battle.

Kayla's Introduction:
Kayla is also world-famous, this time as an actress. In the ring, she prefers to be called "The Butterfly", and it's obvious why she likes that name. Her suit gives her large butterfly wings that let her soar through the dome gracefully. She mainly attacks with throwing rings, but she can hold her own up close as well.

Foodini walked into the arena like the showman he is. He was waving and bowing as he made his way to the starting area.

Kayla struted into the arena like she was on the red carpet. She blew kisses to the audience, and let her wings out.

Announcer: This fight will go until one of the fighters is either knocked unconscious or gives up. Fighters are not allowed to leave the dome until the match is up. Aside from that, there are no restrictions. Do whatever you need to do to ensure you come out on top. Fighters ready? Go!

Kayla immediately took flight and started throwing her trademark rings at Foodini. The announcer was expecting this, so he grabbed some cardboard shields from his jacket and deflected them all. He then took out a blaster, and aimed it carefully.

Blueberry drizzle came out and coated Kayla. She had momentary trouble staying in the air, but she spun around and the blue goo flew off. Foodini attempted to shield it again, but the syrup disentegrated his banana shaped shield. Foodini put the shooter away and took out a rusty pipe.

Kayla dived in close to Foodini and struck him with a sharp diamond ring. Foodini fell back and dropped the pipe, which started to expand. This particular weapon needed no control; it kept twisting and turning following Kayla at 90 degree angles.

Kayla flapped her wings around the dome, but the network of pipes kept growing. Foodini took out a number of waffles, and threw them like discs. Most of them bounced off of the growing amount of pipeworks, but one hit Kayla right in one of her wings. She lost her balance and fell, just in time for a pipe to catch up to her and swallow her up.

The pipes shook as Kayla fought to escape them, and Foodini walked over and hit a button. Chili started to come out of the ends, and Kayla could be heard shouting as she was surrounded by beef and beans.

Foodini stood and watched his chiliworks do his job for him. Kayla was having a lot of trouble escaping, and the scalding hot chili inside would surely do her in eventually.

Suddenly, Kayla shot out of the end of the pipe and flew straight at Foodini. He was caught off guard, and tried to reactivate the pipes but Kayla was too fast. She cut the pipes in half from the outside, rendering them useless and causing a small wave of chili to knock Foodini into the wall.

She then threw two rings at Foodini at the same time, trapping him against the wall. She took out some diamonds and prepared to end the match, but Foodini just laughed. He took off his hat, revealing another one underneath it. He took his hat off again two more times until he was wearing one hat and holding three. He through the hats around, and they spawned decoy Foodinis.

The lights went out, but Foodini's eyes were still glowing. All of them. They began to move around as they were joined by dozens of more pairs. Kayla's eyes also glowed, but they were moving around rapidly as if she was being attacked repeatedly.

The lights went back on, and there were 4 Foodini hats lying in the centre of the arena. Kayla, who was now covered in scratches and bruises, walked up to one of the hats and lifted it up. It was not the right Foodini, and the hat blew up. Kayla was thrown to the opposite end of the arena, and did not get back up. Foodini was the winner!

Foodini has moved onto Round 2 where he will face Amy.

Kayla is an incredibly versatile fighter. Her arsenal contains lots of different jewelery projectiles, and some close range attacks as well. Foodini's control of the stage prevented her from getting to do much, however. She was mostly focused on surviving the games.

Foodini himself isn't necessarily a strong opponent. He has designed weapons inspired by his minigames, and these are what propel him to victory. Usually his chiliworks are enough to finish the job, but he had to resort to Hallway Hunt. He's unpredictable, so Amy will have trouble with him. However, Foodini's attacks are mostly physical, so Amy's telekinesis will be a gigantic hurdle for him to overcome.

This match pits Big Pauly (seed 7) against Kingsley (seed 10).

Big Pauly's Introduction:
Big Pauly is a pepper salesman who has worked closely with Papa to supply crushida pepper to some of his restaurants. He is a rather large man, and he knows how to use his weight in battle. He is surprisingly fast for his size/shape, and his ground pound has cracked some less durable arenas. He also has his never ending supply of pepper bombs. Big Pauly comes in fast, and he'll for sure be a worthy opponent.

Kingsley's Introduction:
Kingsley is a comedian well known for his sets about food. A little known fact about Kingsley is he's a powerful mage. He's mastered the art of teleporation, although he insists it's not the traditional form of teleporting. He is also a little big (although not to the point where he's Big Kingsley), and he has a way of seeming larger than life. If his more mystical abilities don't end the match, he always has his trusty microphone.

Big Pauly lumbered into the arena with a smirk on his face. His belt had lots of areas for pepper bombs, but they were just for show. He could materialize bombs out of seemingly thin air. There were jokes he had them hidden... well... never mind.

Kingsley walked into the arena. He always had a huge smile, and this occasion was no different. He had his microphone wrapped around his shoulder as a back up plan, but he didn't plan on using it.

Announcer: This fight will go until one of the fighters is either knocked unconscious or gives up. Fighters are not allowed to leave the dome until the match is up. Aside from that, there are no restrictions. Do whatever you need to do to ensure you come out on top. Fighters ready? Go!

Big Pauly immediately ran as fast as he could (admittedly not very fast) and tossed two bombs at Kingsley. Kingsley laughed as he vanished and appeared behind Big Pauly. He took the fedora off of his head and threw it at his opponent.

Big Pauly fell forward a bit, surprised by the attack. He threw another bomb, but Kingsley dematerialized yet again. This was instant, there were almost two Kingsleys at the same time. Not quite.

Another bomb was thrown, which Kingsley again easily stepped aside from. He appeared right over Big Pauly and landed a small ground pound. Pauly, furious his signature move had been stolen, grabbed onto Kingsley. He slammed Kingsley on the ground, and managed to get a few ground pounds in before Kingsley vanished again.

Big Pauly aimed a bomb at Kingsley, but only pretended to throw it. Big Pauly actually threw it behind him, so it exploded right as Kingsley appeared. Kingsley fell down, hurt. He threw the microphone out at his opponent and dragged him in. Once Big Pauly was tied up so he couldn't move, Kingsley teleported across the arena for the millionth time.

Kingsley stood still as a blue energy surrounded him. He began to float slowly, hopefully a familiar move by now. This energy was a lot denser than before, and Kingsley was completely enveloped.

The energy shifted in shape until it formed a gigantic blue Kingsley. He laughed, and this time it was far deeper than his trademark chuckle. He slowly wandered towards his trapped opponent.

Big Pauly revealed he had been sucking his gut in when he was being tied up by letting it all out. The increase in volume was enough to snap the microphone, and he was free again. He chucked lots of bombs at Kingsley, but their explosions seemed to only mildly irritate the beast.

Kingsley reached down and squished Big Pauly like an ant. He did not get back up. Kingsley was the winner!

Kingsley has moved onto Round 2 where he will face one of Cameo or Elle.

Big Pauly has some good tricks with his bombs, but Kingsley makes himself a difficult target. Maybe if Big Pauly weren't so slow, he'd be able to take advantage of the lengthy delay between teleportations, or even notice the fact that Kingsley can't seem to teleport if he has just been hit. Similarly to Hope, Kingsley will have to be taken out all at once instead of over the course of a fight.

Kingsley's flight is similar, and by now it seems certain something fishy is happening. All of the impacted fighters have refused to comment except for Hope, who says "Cooper and Prudence have literally the exact same moveset. Why aren't you looking at that?"

Kingsley seems to be unstoppable once he has grown, so whoever fights him in the next round must make sure they take him down before he is shielded. It seems unlikely Papa knew about this growth move, or else Kingsley would have been seeded higher than tenth.

This match pits Cameo (seed 2) against Elle (seed 15).

Cameo's Introduction:
Cameo is a quirky yet powerful mage who created something he likes to call the "Car-realm-mel". He can make almost anything using the caramel he collects from his own pocket dimension, the only limitation is really his imagination. His nearly limitless possibilities in combat are likely what made him the second seed, but almost all of the matches so far have been upsets. Seeding has not mattered so far.

Elle's Introduction:
Elle is a hard working high school student, and also the youngest fighter in this tournament. If the multitude of upsets isn't enough to tell you to stop underestimating lower seeds, Elle is determined to change your mind. She has a unique approach to fighting revolving around weakening the other fighter to the point they aren't going to be able to do much. Let's see if Elle can do that against such a powerful opponent.

Cameo ran into the arena. He doesn't have any weapons yet, but he is ready to open the Car-realm-mel. He gleefully rubbed his hands together in anticipation.

Elle slowly entered the arena. She looked around nervously. This was her first time fighting an opponent as powerful as Cameo, so she was understandably scared. She took a deep breath, balled her hands into fists, and exhaled. She was ready.

Announcer: This fight will go until one of the fighters is either knocked unconscious or gives up. Fighters are not allowed to leave the dome until the match is up. Aside from that, there are no restrictions. Do whatever you need to do to ensure you come out on top. Fighters ready? Go!

Cameo opened up the Car-realm-mel immediately and reached inside. He pulled out a large shield which he attached to his right arm, and a large falchion. The realm closed up, and Cameo turned around.

Elle ran up towards Cameo and jumped in the air to kick him. Cameo effortlessly raised his shield and knocked Elle back. Elle rose up again and this time aimed a punch, but Cameo rolled out of the way and let Elle fall to the floor.

He approached Elle with the sword and swung it in her direction. She crawled out of the way at first and kicked it away before getting up again. Cameo ran up and swung the sword yet again, but Elle grabbed something from her pocket.

She wrapped a blue piece of fabric around the sword's blade and pulled. The sword began to stretch until it broke in half. Based off where it broke, Cameo's sword was about the same length but stretched a lot thinner. He was able to swing it a lot faster now as it had lost almost half its weight.

He ran at Elle, but she ran up, jumped off his shield, and threw a cord down at Cameo. The rope immediately slithered down Cameo's arms, and despite his efforts to shake it off tied up his arms.

Elle rose her arms up and pulled them back sharply, and Cameo dropped the sword. He probably would have dropped the shield if it hadn't been directly attached to his arm. Cameo reached up to his hair with his left hand and grabbed some peanuts. He threw them in Elle's general direction, and they honed in on her.

The nuts kept bombarding Elle, preventing her from doing much. Cameo reopened the Car-realm-mel, but Elle moved his arm away from the opening. Cameo snapped his fingers, and the nuts started pelting Elle way harder than before. Cameo then retrieved an identical sword, and closed the portal.

Elle's eyes closed, and she fell to the ground. It looked like she was done in by the peanut annoyance. She was suddenly wrapped in a deep blue shroud of light, and rose slowly. Cameo looked up and frowned. No one had yet managed to beat someone with this mysterious power. He decided he would be the first.

The peanuts were trapped in the light, unable to move in or out. Elle opened her eyes and raised her arms. Cameo jumped up with his sword, ready to strike. Elle moved her arms back and created some sort of rope.

She used it to take the sword straight out of Cameo's hand, and also managed to take the shield away. Controlling her new arms with her real arms, she held onto Cameo and repeatedly whacked him with the sword. He was probably unconcious three hits in, but to be safe Elle kept going. She then tossed him on the ground, and he did not get back up. Elle was the winner!

Elle has moved onto Round 2 where she will face Kingsley.

Cameo is ridiculously powerful, but he only made a sword. He claims he underestimated Elle and decided to save the big guns for later, but by the time he realized what his opponent was capable of it was too late. This makes 6 upsets in the first round of the tournament, with only Hope and Foodini beating an opponent of a lower seed.

5 of the first round winners have used some sort of energy to float and fight (Nye, Hope, Amy, Kingsley, and Elle). The other three (Rita, Fernanda, and Foodini) must figure out how to counter this gameplay. Papa Louie must not have known about this energy power, because 4 of its users were ranked in a low seed. Viewers are wondering if there's some sort of conspiracy going on. Only time will tell.

That's it for Round 1! Please vote for who you think should win the round 2 matches, starting with Rita and Nye.

This match pits Rita, who beat Steven in Round 1, against Nye who beat Tohru.

Rita's Introduction:
Rita is back after pulling off a massive upset against Steven. With her use of the negative zone, she is a dangerous opponent. Her flipper also has a few buttons she hasn't had to press yet. No one has managed to beat one of these energy users, will Rita be the first?

Nye's Introduction:
After managing to oust Tohru with only one attack, Nye moved onto Round 2. He says he'll only use his fist as a last resort, but who knows? He denied the chance to comment on the conspiracy. Nye's energy has been deemed the most aesthetically pleasing so he has that going for him, at least. Nye is lucky he has a warp key as he's going against someone who can move in between dimensions.

Rita walked into the arena holding her trademark flipper. She swung it around menacingly while waiting for Nye.

Nye walked into the arena. This time, his warp key was already around his neck. He is just as expressionless as he was during the intro to his fight with Tohru.

Announcer: This fight will go until one of the fighters is either knocked unconscious or gives up. Fighters are not allowed to leave the dome until the match is up. Aside from that, there are no restrictions. Do whatever you need to do to ensure you come out on top. Fighters ready? Go!

Rita ran towards Nye with her weapon and got a few quick hits in. It was already starting to turn red. Nye quickly kicked Rita down and tried to escape.

Nye began to float, essentially the signature move of the tournament so far. His multi coloured energy surrounded him, and he began to make his fist. Rita immediately ducked down into the negative zone. Even though this is essentially teleportation like Kingsley's, it isn't instant. She could stay down there and stall indefinitely if she wanted to.

Nye took out his warp key and entered the negative zone as well. That's a smart move, but at the same time it means the audience now doesn't get to see what's going on. The two of them are presumably fighting in there, but who can tell? After this match a rule will probably be added to prevent this from happening.

After about half a minute, a warp key portal opened up. Rita flew through it, and Nye jumped out too. While in the negative zone, he began flying fully, but apparently Rita didn't let him charge up any attacks. Rita's weapon is now fully red and Nye's clothes are covered in burn marks. Their battle was apparently very exciting in the negative zone.

Nye raised a fist and threw it at Rita, but Rita deflected it with her weapon. Notably this does not count as contact for the temperature charging. Rita pressed a new button on the handle, and flew forward at incredible speeds. Nye opened up a portal and used it to slam Rita into the wall. He had pulled this trick on Tohru, but Rita was expecting this.

She kicked off of the wall, keeping most of her momentum. She swung at Nye yet again and knocked him to the ground. The combination of the immense heat and momentum of the blast resulted in a rather strong hit, and Nye fell back. He lost all of his energy, and collapsed to the ground.

Nye was almost out of it, but he had a bit of strength left. He took out his warp key and entered the negative zone once again. He was too weak to select any other destination. Rita saw this and immediately joined him. Good, more negative zone fighting.

Nye's portal did not actually close, so it is possible to see a bit of action. Nye was flying around swinging at Rita, who is reflecting attacks and using the weapon to propel herself around the arena. Rita noticed that the portal was still open, so she stood by it and let Nye charge out. She hopped threw the portal and brought the fight back to the... positive zone, I guess?

Nye continued to float and he slammed the phantom fist down hard on Rita. The flipper was knocked from her hands. Nye swooped down, picked up the flipper, and threw it into the negative zone. Rita was now weaponless and she had no way to return to the negative zone. She jumped up to kick Nye, but her efforts were futile. Now that she was disarmed, she had no way of stopping Nye's attacks. He swatted her into the wall, and she did not get back up. Nye was the winner!

Nye has moved onto the Semifinals where he will face one of Hope or Fernanda.

Of course, the two dimension hoppers got to fight against each other. Rita's means of entering and exiting are better for her as Nye can't follow her as easily and it is far less predictable. Also, Rita is far more used to the physics of the negative zone. Nye got all of his good hits in the positive zone, while Rita got hers in the negative zone. Nye entered the negative zone because he knew that the transition between dimensions would give him a bit of time in the air, reactivating his energy and giving him the strength needed to win the battle.

With Rita's loss to Nye, the fact that no one has beaten an "energy user" remains true. In the next battle Fernanda has the chance to take down Hope and finally prove that these fighters aren't invincible.

Voting for the next match is up! Don't forget to vote for your favourite in Hope vs Fernanda.

This match pits Hope, who beat Yui in Round 1, against Fernanda who beat Cooper.

Hope's Introduction:
Hope is here. When she arrived at the arena, she was asked about the conspiracy with Nye, Amy, Kingsley, Elle, and her all sharing a signature move. Hope just laughed and said "They're all copying me, I'm the original." Whether she's right or not, she definitely relied on that state more than the others. She still has her foresight and forcefields, of course, but those don't win matches. Her incredible beams of aura do.

Fernanda's Introduction:
Fernanda proved just how adaptable she was when she destroyed Cooper in a blowout match. She got to show off her limited healing ability, a skill she no doubt learned in the far more dangerous tournaments twenty five years ago. She also showed that she can play up close or from afar. Her rockslide attack was impressive, but will she be able to get the rocks through Hope's forcefield?

Hope walked into the arena. She also commented that she'd rather fly into the arena, but because of how vulnerable she is when she starts her flight Papa Louie decided she had to wait until the match began to receive her aura powers.

Fernanda did get to fly into the arena, though. It's still unknown exactly how she is flying. Is it magic, or is it practical? Based off of Fernanda's otherwise plain moveset, it's easy to assume it's somehow manual. However, she didn't have to do much to take down Cooper. She may still have a lot up her sleeve.

Announcer: This fight will go until one of the fighters is either knocked unconscious or gives up. Fighters are not allowed to leave the dome until the match is up. Aside from that, there are no restrictions. Do whatever you need to do to ensure you come out on top. Fighters ready? Go!

Hope didn't waste any time. She immediately began to light up with aura and float into the air. Fernanda also went straight into the air, and swooped down at Hope. Hope was distracted by this hit and fell down.

Fernanda reached into her cloak and took out a pair of blades. She threw them both at Hope, one after the other. Hope managed to dodge them easily, then stepped to the side. The blades came back to Fernanda, revealing they had some sort of boomerang quality. Hope of course knew this already, so she was able to avoid them.

Hope then began to rise again. She let go of her aura and moved to the side to avoid another boomerang, then resumed her charging. She threw a forcefield around her body so she wouldn't have to move to the side to avoid attacks anymore.

Fernanda flew up and examined the forcefield, determining that there weren't any holes. The forcefield seemed to be inpenetrable from both sides, meaning Hope can't attack while she's in one but she cannot be attacked too.

Fernanda took out her bag and began pelting Hope's forcefield with the rocks she had crushed Cooper with. The forcefield shimmered and shook, but it did not break. Hope did seem to lose a bit of concentration, but her aura beams did not vanish.

Then, Fernanda put the bag away and rammed straight into the sheet of aura. Hope and the forcefield both moved back with the force of the impact. Fernanda flew back and rammed again, and again, and again. Eventually Hope was slammed into the side of the arena. She slid down the wall, forcefield and aura beams both gone.

Fernanda took this opportunity to throw another boomerang blade, but Hope jumped out of the way and went right back into the air. The forcefield was back, she was recharging her aura beams yet again. Nothing had really changed.

With a defeated look in her eyes Fernanda went down to the ground. She continued to throw stones and boomerangs, but nothing much really happened. How was it possible to beat someone who always has either a forcefield surrounding them or intimate knowledge of what their opponent will do next?

Hope's beam was getting extremely large, probably a little larger than the one used to take down Yui. She took the forcefield down, and Fernanda raised her cloak as a shield. As the blast wore away the cloak, Fernanda did her best to repair it. She pretended to run out of the cloak, and Hope moved her beam accordingly. Fernanda sprinted away and fully fixed the cloak, taking advantage of the relatively slow movement of Hope's beam.

Eventually, the beam began to shrink. Hope looked tired, and her arms looked like they were getting weak. Suddenly, her beam disappeared completely, and she plummeted to the ground. Fernanda ran over and delivered a hard punch, and Hope was knocked down. She did not get back up. Fernanda was the winner!

Fernanda has moved onto the Semifinals where she will face Nye.

Fernanda isn't the flashiest fighter, no. She revealed that she had a bit more up her cloak, and those blade boomerangs have a lot of deadly potential. However, she managed to beat one of the most powerful fighters just with her brain. Fernanda was not playing to defeat Hope, she was playing to outlast her. Fernanda correctly guessed that Hope's power was not infinite. By forcing her to keep the forcefield up for a long time, dodge a lot of attacks with foresight, have to fly up many times, and rendering the beam almost useless, Hope was tired out. Once Hope had no powers left, she was extremely vulnerable. It only took one hit after that happened for Fernanda to win.

However it happened, Fernanda proved that these "energy users" are not unstoppable. If Hope is the first as she claims, she still certainly isn't the best. Foodini will likely be looking to repeat that feat against Amy in the next match. Voting for Amy vs Foodini is now open!
