Breaking news out of Ätherstein, where representatives from the Continental Concordia, the Frozen Zone, and Thrasher’s Heap sat down together today for the start of a week-long mediation summit.
The goal is to finally untangle the growing dispute surrounding Thrasher’s Heap and, hopefully, bring an end to the garbage strike that has been leaving an increasingly unpleasant mark on towns across the Concordia. With all three sides now at the same table, this will be the first sustained attempt to find some common ground since Thrasher’s Heap declared itself a sovereign nation and shut down outside access.
And there could hardly be a more neutral place to hold the talks.
The summit is being hosted by the BotWursts in their newly completed Ätherstein Convention Center. The massive building was once an abandoned ore-processing hall, but after a full restoration and conversion by the remarkably industrious BotWursts, the old industrial shell has been given an entirely new purpose. This week’s negotiations will serve as its first major event.
Whether seven days around a table will be enough to sort out territorial claims, political recognition, and mountains of uncollected garbage remains to be seen. But for the first time, everyone involved is at least talking.
I’ll be following the negotiations throughout the week and bringing you any major developments as they happen, because Duke’s Gotcha covered!

I would also like to take this time to make the sad announcement of the passing of someone I considered a friend, and someone many of you have come to know and enjoy, Oakie Deloke.
I first met Oakie while researching my three-part series on Historic Route 06. Born 96 years ago in the small town of Powder Point, Oakie spent much of his life working at his family’s roadside shop, Oakie’s Corral and Curios. He watched his hometown transform from a quiet sheep-herding community into the bustling amusement park destination we know today.
When I first sat down with Oakie, I had planned to ask him a few questions about the old highway. What I got instead was an afternoon filled with wonderful stories, hearty laughs, and a friendship I never expected.
Oakie had seen a lot in his 96 years, and while he understood that the world would continue to change, he never forgot the people and places that made it special. He had a way of making you feel like you were right there beside him, even when recalling events from nearly a century ago.
Oakie passed away earlier this week at the age of 96. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Rest easy, old friend. Thank you for sharing a little piece of your journey with us.

Hiya friends!
Oh, Duke, I’m so sorry to hear about Oakie. He seemed like such a sweetheart, and every time you shared one of his stories, you could tell just how much those memories meant to him. Ninety-six years is such an incredible journey, and I’m glad he got the chance to share a little piece of it with all of us.
For this week’s forecast, we’re heading over to Tricksylvania, where the weather is certainly settling into that chilly, misty late-October mood.

We’ve got plenty of clouds, drizzle, and patches of fog hanging around through the first part of the week, with a few breezy and showery stretches mixed in. Things dry out a little as the week rolls along, but temperatures stay on the cool side, with those crisp evenings really starting to make themselves known.
So if you’re heading out for any Halloween fun, keep a light jacket handy and maybe an umbrella too. Tricksylvania is looking appropriately spooky this week, even if the weather is doing most of the decorating for them.

The Mumph here, and folks, what a night at W8W Rumble in the Ring!
Now, some people will tell you Wrestlephoria is the ultimate W8W event, and hey, I am not here to pick a fight with tradition. But Rumble in the Ring? I would make the case that this is the anything-can-happen spectacular of the year.
Thirty-six wrestlers. No holds barred. A new entrant every three minutes. You get long-absent wrestlers making surprise returns, retired legends coming back for one more go, brand-new talent making their first walk down that aisle, and somehow you are supposed to call all of it without losing your voice. I loved every second of it. And that ending, holy smokes.
We get down to the final three, and Snapdragon Snarl is still standing. Remember, Snarl was the very first wrestler sent to the ring, and by this point he had survived for over an hour. I really thought we were watching the beginning of a big singles run for him. Then Biggie Bright catches him at the ropes and sends him over, and suddenly we are down to two.
Biggie Bright versus Jobbin’ Jasper Flats.
Nobody had Jasper Flats winning this thing. Nobody. Both of them are running on fumes, trading lariats in the middle of the ring, one after another, until Flats takes one square on the jaw and staggers backward. Biggie sees her opening and moves in for the Barrel Bomb. And Jasper counters with a perfect Sliced Bread.
Bright somehow gets back to her feet, charges again, and Flats catches her with a Back Body Drop that sends her sailing over the top rope. Bell rings. Crowd erupts. Jobbin’ Jasper Flats wins Rumble in the Ring.
Folks, I nearly came out of my chair at the announce desk. That is the magic of this match. You can spend the whole night thinking you know where the story is headed, and then one guy nobody gave a chance turns the whole thing upside down. After a win like that, I am thinking Jasper might have to reconsider that “Jobbin’” nickname.
But The Mumph knows why most of you came here. Baseball!

Tastyville struck first, Starlight City answered with two in the second, and after the Tomatoes tied it up in the fourth, the Buffaloes took over late. One run in the sixth, two more in the seventh, and another in the eighth sealed a 6-2 Starlight City win.
Citrano at shortstop takes MVP honors.
My two cents, tied ballgame through five, then Starlight City just kept piling on. Nice clean finish from the Buffaloes.

Hello out there…
There have been some strange sightings around Whiskview lately, and no, before anyone asks, this one has nothing to do with the Sugarsquatch.
For the past several days, reports have been popping up online about rats that look a little different from the usual alleyway variety. Witnesses describe brightly painted polka dots across their fur and, stranger still, tiny helmet-like devices with what appear to be miniature satellite dishes attached to them. I know how that sounds. I rolled my eyes too.
Then, two nights ago, driving home from work, I caught a glimpse of something darting along the curb beneath a streetlight. Spotted fur. Something metallic on its head. And then it vanished into a storm drain before I could get a proper look.
So now I have questions.
Who is painting rats? What exactly are those little devices? And perhaps most importantly, why does someone apparently need Whiskview’s rodent population equipped with communications hardware?
I am not ready to call this anything more than strange just yet. But if another polka-dotted rat crosses my path, I plan on being a little quicker with the camera.
And that’s The Scoop.
